I am working on an '82 FT 38' on an Oshkosh. It is a low milage coach but the PO did not repair some roof leaks. I have a ceiling that needs replacement. I am wondering where to take it and the ball park amount to expect. The ac units are old and have thought of going to a duct system while the ceiling is out. Any thoughts or advice? Also, what would be the best to replace the lighting with more efficient bulbs, fixtures? The coach is near Nac, so suggestions on where to get the work done would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Carter Langford
Infinity in Nacogdoches might be able to replace your ceiling. Look at having your roof sprayed at Extreme as to air conditioners replace at MOT and save the money as ducting could be expensive.
Before going to a new ceiling with ducted air, be sure to consider ceiling height. Installing ducts will lower the ceiling by several inches. I know I can definitely tell the difference when comparing our (non-ducted) coach to newer (ducted) models. In my case (5' 9" and shrinking) it is no big deal, but taller folks might be less tolerant of the reduced clearance.
Not the least expensive at all, and you may end up with way more invested than coach is worth, but being close to NAC, get Rance to give you ideas and estimate on the leak/exterior work and David Flanigan at Foretravel to look and quote headliner and duct work.
Starting there will give you best ideas and worst case cost estimates
Here is a link to a thread started by Jerry Whiteaker. He did a MASSIVE modification to his air conditioning system, converting from roof mounted A/C to central air. Includes several photos of the work required to install air ducts in a non-ducted coach. If nothing else, this is a awe-inspiring testament to his ingenuity and master craftsmanship.

Thanks to everyone that commented. Now I have got to get the coach into town to get some prices
and move forward. Just depends on how empty the piggy bank is.
