Title: Water Manifold
Post by: bbeane on May 26, 2016, 07:37:46 pm
I have a small drip in my outside faucet in the plumbing bay. Question is has anyone turned off the valves at the manifold block ( likely hasen't been moved since new)without creating more leaks to deal with.

Bruce I have and mine is 2000. I also do it every 6 months just to keep them pliable. Should not be a problem. Maybe squirt in some dry silicone spray onto the turn knob and hope it goes down to shaft a bit..

They are pretty firm but they will turn. Be careful not to twist off the diamond shaped valve stem.  I like the idea of some silicone spray. Make sure the key is fully engaged.  I just turned all of mine last summer and again this spring.

Where is it dripping?

That is one of my 6 month checks on the coach, checking the manoblock valves.

Manobloc has a new (free) tighter fitting T handle that may fit the diamond shaped shaft better.  They also may throw in a couple of free valves (just in case .  . . they are needed)

Well so far so good the Manibloc valves turned just fine. Now the search is on for the cartridges for the faucet. As I understand they are Wolverine brass 53571. Well see what we can find here in Mamoth Lakes CA.

More investigation needed the cold water to the outside faucet also sits off the toilet. Haven't tried turning off the toilet valve to see where it goes.

Bruce,

This is the cartridge in the 2001 service faucet. They were not easy to find. We were in NAC and FT had two.  With the MC discount and TX tax, just a bit more than Amazon but then and then.  I bought two, figured if one went bad the other was probably not far behind. I think mine failed because I didn't get the pink winterizing juice in that side.

Not sure if this is the same as yours.  Double check.

Bruce,

That looks like what we have and here is a couple of links that fit ours but you need to double check to make sure this will work for your application.

Bruce, It looks like the one we have although I think my vertical part might be shorter.  If the water is off you can remove a handle by removing a screw and then use a wrench to remove the upper part.  Once opened you can pull out the cartridge and take it to a good hardware store or plumbing supply store and the can determine which cartridge is the right one.

If it is leaking at the top of the valve you might just need to snug up the top part.  Worth a try.

In general plumbing issues require three trips to the store, at least for me anyway.

When we got our Ol Girl - (I've shared this story before) - our faucet leaked too.  The PO tried to close the manifold and ruined the cold maniblock valve.  To date I have not tried to move any of the other Maniblock valves.  I removed the faucet valves and took them to a local plumbing supply in Houston and bought a Hot and Cold Valve to replace the leaking ones.  I installed them and the faucet still leaked.  I figure that the valve seats were damaged so I removed the faucet and capped both lines.  We lived that way for a couple of years until last fall when I replace it with a new Moen of like kind but new design.  The Maniblock valve has not been replaced as I understood that they were no longer available.

Thanks Mike look forward to see y'all again.
Roger I always figure an empty credit card and a full tank of gas for plumbing projects.
Mine is dripping from the spout.

Called wolverine Brass today to check if the 53571 cartridge was right for my faucet. After determining that was the correct part they sent me 2 new ones no charge, what a deal

One of the strange decisions from Foretravel: When the arm is folded the last few drips land on the 50 amp plug. What were they thinking?  ???
