Does anyone know how the dinette seat cushions can be removed so that a firmer piece of foam can be put inside the cover?
They seem to be attached with a piece of plastic welting cord in a sleeve running the width of the seat bottom, but I don't
want to start pulling it out until I know for sure.,
I know that Triena at MOT does that, but I have no idea the expertise needed if you want to try it. I suspect to be done right, it takes experience. I have been looking at doing some on driver seat and she has several samples of different foams.

All the upholstery is attached with "hog" rings. You will have to go an upholstery shop and either buy or rent the tool. And buy a bag of rings. They should not be reused. Very easy to work with. We have redone a few pieces on our own. Using the old cover as template. Once your detach the cushion or cover, it all makes sense. Usually flipping a piece over reveals how things are attached.

Here is a hog ring tool you can load up like a stapler, comes with 1000 rings.
Hog ring tool (http://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-P7DW-Hog-Ring-Pliers/dp/B00I7PCF3K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465138731&sr=8-1&keywords=hog+ring+pliers)
I am planning to just remove the two cushions and take them to a local upholstery shop to have new foam put in.
I don't think it's hog-ringed. The cushion is a separate piece that appears to be held on with the welting cord slid through a sleeve.
But I'll go have another, closer look.
Update;
I was able to remove the two dinette cushions, but not easily. It took me and my friend eight hours to R & R both of them. There
are a lot of staples and hog rings as well as tufting thread that are simple enough to work with, but time consuming.
Total cost was about $180.00 to replace the foam.
Had both recovered with ultraleather and some new foam, plus the jackknife sofa for $900 locally. I supplied the ultraleather.
