I am curious - how many owners do we have on this forum that are original owners?
Are you an original owner? Or did you purchase your coach from another person who was the original owner? This is something that I am curious about with the members of this forum. Looking forward to seeing your replies.
Bob
We are owner 4.
Owner 1 from CA, for about 10 years, Owner 2 had it for about 6 years, the owner three for nine months (wife had medical issue) and we have had for about three years. Many more to come!
We are owners #4, Original owner sold it in 2002=2003, second owner from 2003=2010, third owner 2010 =2015.
We have had her a year now with NO plans to sell.
We are the second owner of our 2001. We bought it from the original owner in California.
We are the fifth owners. Never found out who was the OO (they sold it to #2 with only 11K, (no service records). #2, 3 & 4 kept detailed service records, especially forum member # 3!
Second owner.
Bought the 2003 coach from the California dealer in 2008.
Full service records, mostly done at FOT.
Original owner, built to our specs. Still very pleased with our decision and layout!
We are 2nd owner 1st owner traded it in for a bus conversion in 2005.
4th owner of our '99, First passed away and grandchildren sold it to Ron Hawkins of Innovative Coach Works, He sold it to his aunt and uncle when the uncle passed away, we purchased from his aunt. With this kind of history, records are very hard to come up with.
Third owner of our '81 First owner had it custom built for him in 1980 second owner parked it in a trailer park and lived in it to go through college. After getting married he sold it to us in Dec. of '94 with 43,000 miles on it. It is a keeper so I guess we have two Foretravels.
Hmmmm. Which owner are you, Bob? :D :D :D
I "believe" I'm the third.
We are the 2nd owner. The original owner traded her in Sept 2005 for a new 2005 U320 40' at Stouts RV in Indianapolis, Ind.
Stouts was a Foretravel dealer at the time. Their pre-delivery service was just outstanding.
I have managed to obtain all the service records from when the factory first sold her to current.
We are proud 3rd owners. Original owner, Lee Cutsinger, purchased it from FOT of California; Mike Doran purchased it from Lee on 4/28/2005, and we purchased it from sweet Mike and Elayne Doran on 4/17/13. When we purchased the coach from Mr. Doran, he was sad that we couldn't talk to the original owner because he had since passed away; but he did get us on the phone with the original salesman who sold the coach to Mr. Cutsinger back in 1997. ^.^d
We are origional, picked up our 96 U320
in Jan 97. We are living in Tn, currently in
Mich, & heading for Minnesota, wonderful way to enjoy our retirement .
We are the second or maybe third owners. The first owner traded it back to Foretravel. It was not on consignment. So is FOT owner#2? Then, we bought it in August 2004.
Bob
That is awesome, hope to have ours just as long.
We were the second owners. I negotiated with the original owner before he traded for a new coach, so wound up buying from Dave Robertson at MOT. Now, I am on consignment at MOT. Have had the last trip.
We are the second owners; our coach was a year old when we bought it, although we had originally looked at new 2003's and 04's the prior fall, but didn't find one that suited us. Our next coach is currently planned to be purchased new.
I wonder if you are interested in the percentage of forum members who are original owners? If so you would want my reply... We are not original owners.
The first owner was original, the second took over at 96000 miles and we got at 135000 miles
Mike
Original owner.
Hopefully Bob isn't trying to glean statistics from the question - with as many lurkers as we have this isn't going to be remotely close to scientific or representative of the forum membership ;)
Our 1994 U300 # 4466 was built for someone in California, Delivered, and registered. Then after less than 60 days was sold to; Roy Green of Lakeland, FL.. He had it returned to the factory for Upgrades, Satellite antenna, compartment drawers, musical horns, Etc.. He owned it from 1995 til 2005, stored in an air conditioned building. I bought from estate with 30,000 miles on in in like new condition. :)) :)) :))
Fourth owner at 62,000 miles, now 79,625 miles.
No Michelle, just wondering and have little interest in statistics. Bob
3rd owner.
FWIW
I am the second owner and bought it from the original owner. I have the original paperwork from them buying it. I got it with about 40K miles on it. I'm a lucky fellow. Now it has about 60K on it. Best of travels.
2nd owner.
I believe I'm the 3rd owner.
First owner purchased in 97, second in 2000, we got it in 2015.
First owner from South Africa, second from Waxahachie Tx, I am the third owner. I worked on it for both previous owners while on some motorcades.
We are the third owners. First one was in Sandusky oh, it came through Idaho. Second owner imported it to here and didn't get to use it much before the husband got sick and then passed seven years ago, since then it got used three times before we bought it.
3Rd owner, but I have the original sales recite from the original owner.
3rd
3rd
4th
I believe we are third owners.
2nd of our '04, original of our '09
Bob, when you asked the question, you forgot to share *your* answer ;)
3rd Owner
We are number 5 on the list of caretakers assigned to our coach. Number 6 is gonna have to wait a while...
We are at least number 3.
5Th best we can tell.
We are the second owner. First owner lived in College Station--had a much shorter service commute!
Don
We're the Third owner/keeper of our coach
We are the 2nd owners. ;D
#2
# 3 as best we can tell
My wife Denise and I are the second owners...bought our 2002 295 36" this past May from MOT.
not original on this one nor the previous coach.
The results of this poll appear to show an overwhelming bias towards second and third owners, very few first owners.
Ten years ago, the bias did not exist, there were many first owners.
Ten years ago, there were many more newer coaches ;) I'll try to dig up the average length of time someone owns an RV before buying a new one, but I think it's likely on the order of every 5 years.
ETA - quickly scared this one up, https://data.sca.isr.umich.edu/fetchdoc.php?docid=49063 , 8.4 years in 2011, up from 6.6 years in 2005.
That sounds reasonable. The first owner of my coach bought a new one every five years. Like clockwork.
While I would agree in the past owners might replace their coach every five years, I would say that in today's economy it might be a different number. While surely FOT did have many owners who traded in their coach for a newer one, today it might be fewer of those people and more one time buyers.
Bob
Forrest was adopted at Foretravel of Tennessee in Kodak. We are the second parents...
Bob, I think you're right, the economy's changed & people may now have a tendency to keep their coaches longer, especially this "first class" brand... :D I'm just the 2nd owner of this ol' girl & she's almost 20, got her almost 3 years ago with only 41,000 miles on her (have added about 12,000) after she'd been sitting for a few years. After getting her back to "feeling good" again, ("looking good" is still in the works!) it's doubtful she'll see a 3rd owner for a very long time....still have a lot of the original paper work & records, which is great.
What Bob and Dani said, plus with many manufacturers going out/brands (but not quality) getting bought/changes that aren't for the better, it's harder to find a newer coach that's truly an upgrade from what you have now. I know we started casually looking around 2011-2012, then got more serious especially in the last 2 years, and only this year felt there were new coaches out there we would buy as our next coach. At this point we've owned our coach for over 12 years.
I am the fourth owner at 111K miles. Last owner had many improvements made and I have added more to the coach. Just completed a complete rebuild of the audio video and RTI remote controls systems.
We are the third owners or ours
No, 4th owner. Houston was the original home for a long period of time. Somewhere else in Texas for a couple of years and for less than a month the 3rd owners had it. This according to MOT who claimed to have done most if not all the servicing. The coach had 44 thousand miles on it(2014) when purchased and now has about 57.
We are at least the third owner of ours. It has the Foretravel of Tennessee sticker on the side near the door, and so we believe it was originally delivered there. The owners before us had purchased it from a couple near Seattle, but I haven't been able to trace it back beyond that. The Seattle owner was Norm Wilke, but I haven't been able to reach him. I would definitely like to find out additional information if it exists!
We are second owners...Original owner had fleet of commercial rigs so all servicing was done at his own shop ^.^d .
We are the 3rd owner of our 1990 U280 "Cosmic Hippo". Originally delivered in California, traded in to Foretravel for a new one a couple of years later, resold to the owner of the Chevy dealership in Paris, Tx who kept it until he passed away. I bought it from his estate.
We are the second owner of our 96' U320 "Old Blue". Originally delivered in Tennessee. We bought it on consignment at MOT when the original owner was 94! He just got too old to drive it.
We are the 3rd owner. 3 months old. Drove by Foretravel, saw the coach in the lot and it was love at first sight. We were at the right place, at the right time. We arrived on a Friday evening and the coach had just arrived that afternoon for consignment. It never got listed or shown. We stayed the weekend and by Tuesday it was a done deal. We love it!
Be still my thumping heart!!!! ....at least another 30 years left with the ol' girl.... O:)
I'm not the original owner but, frankly, I'm about as original as you can get!
Has anyone besides me noticed that Larry and Roger are the same person??? Back on topic, at least the third owner, coach has a Cour de lene Idaho license plate holder, was at one time owned by a guy that followed the rodeo circuit. He supposedly pulled a horse trailer with it. I bought it from a widow in Arizona. That would be another good poll, how many were purchased from a remaining spouse. Maybe not something we want to think about.
Just to confuse the issue, Larry has a twin named Terry and they have a brother and sister set of twins named Roger and Judy. The Roger on here haspointed out that he has less hair. One of the grandkids pointed out that I was losing my hair and I told him that it was just growing out of my ears and nose rather than on my head. :giggle:
3rd owner, a Christmas gift to myself in 2006, picked up M.L.K. weekend in Phoenix
4th owner. Don't have the details of previous owners with me here. Traded in my 1st Foretravel (1996 U270) at MOT in November of 2012. I was the 2nd owner of the U270 which was bought at FOT in February of 2003. Rodger
Second owner if u do not count a temp owner in between. Original owner paid the big bucks and could not believe the value today. Best to get all those newbie issues out. Still had original tires when I got. Lots of up grades to get the improvements and new ones being available every year. Some are useful and some just cost money but not usable.
