Title: ceiling fan
Post by: redwing on June 13, 2016, 07:21:11 pm
I was wondering , how hard it would be to install a ceiling fan in the bedroom, and where you power it from .would it be 12 volt or 110 ac ? Also where do you buy them.

Our 03 has a 120 volt fan, which I believe was installed at Foretravel, probably when it was built new. Not sure where the 120 line comes from. You can put in either 12 volt dc or 120 volt ac  depending which you want, then have fun running the wiring

We've wondered that too. It would sure help the airflow. Will watch this post.

Rob, you can use a 110v fan, lots more choices.  You need a close ceiling mount, 42", five bladed fan.  That is about as big as fits.

In our 2001 there is a 12"x24" plywood section in the center of the ceiling section over the bed. There is a 1/2" pex tube that runs to the middle of the plywood section in the foam insulation layer above the plywood from ceiling of the cabinet where the BR TV is located.  FT sent me a drawing showing the roof structure, all of the wiring and lights in it and the location of the pex tube conduits.

You have to cut a hole through the plywood with a 1-1/2" or so hole saw and then into the foam layer to get to the Pex tube. Just don't go through the outer roof.  Once the hole saw is started remove the pilot bit.

The pex tube will be right there. I fed the end of a round extension cord through the pex tube with the plug end in the TV cabinet. The other end connects to the fan wiring and the fan base mount to the plywood.

It seems best to us to have the fan rotate so that air moves up in the middle and down around the sides of the BR.

A fan is a great addition.

I did the same as Roger did. Got the ceiling drawing from FOT. give them your build number so you get the right drawing.

I thought they were a factory item. This explains why my fan interfers with the bed when it is raised.

Is this only on the 320s?  Or is this another part of the standard loom?

This is part of the drawing I got.  The back ends of these are pretty similar.  A BR slide may change that.  Best to get a drawing if you can.

This should be pretty common across models.

My 2003 U295 has a factory original 120v fan. It must have been available as an option.

We had FOT install a Fantastic Vent fan above the bed.  They used the PEX conduit and wired it for 12V.  No headroom issues and lots of fresh air when needed.

The U270 did not have any fan stock.

Like Tom's, my 2000 U320 has a fan factory installed. Might have been an option.
