Title: 1987 GV ORED Weights
Post by: debugjaws on June 23, 2016, 09:26:58 am
Hi There Experts - I'm assessing if I can put a Cruiserlift on the back of my 87 GV ORED to haul my 2003 Honda Goldwing GL1800. Extended weight added to rear axle would be 2785 lbs. GVWR of the rear axle is 16,880. I need to know if anyone knows the dry weight of this coach (unloaded). I can calculate from there what my wet / loaded weight is.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Gerry

No way.  I used a Cruiserlift to carry my 550# BMW on my tag axle coach, and it handled it.  But without a tag you have a long moment arm back to the bike load, meaning not only will you be loading the rear axle, but you'll be unloading the front axle significantly, making steering unstable.  Don't do it.  Either tow it on its own trailer or put it and your toad on a flat bed.

the gross on our's is 26k lbs. and most of that is over the rear axle, I weigh every time I'm in Oregon as they have these serve your self road side scales, free scales. we scaled @ 15,000 lbs. on the rear and 7400 lbs. up front. I did this on/off for 2 wk. period when we were in the tillamook area. the numbers stayed within 100 lbs +/-
