Title: 2000w AIMS inverter, 94 degrees, can't see so good- CHUCK YOU'RE RIGHT
Post by: fouroureye on July 08, 2016, 06:57:06 pm
Where do I start..

All safety disconnects done

Freedom 25 came out ok

It is NOT  the inverter-it's due to my sight, and the surpieor build qualities of our  coaches.....

First 180 degree spin just to hook it up, because the wiring terminals are against the wall.... Chuck your right, the $450 I saved has taken me at least 6 hours longer and I'm still not done!

Electrical help
Input 20A shore??WIRING POST BLOCK SAYS...
 L - BLANK - N  SO ... L, load, blank I assume ground, N netural

I hook up black-hot to load, ground, N white..... breaker trips

The #6 output wire from inverter won't fit the wiring block, so inovation...

John, do you know anyone close by with 120 V electrical wiring knowledge? Any brand of new inverter will require some re-wiring for different terminal block layout, etc, - would not expect it to be a drop in replacement.

I don't know what I'm "right" about, but Thanks, I'll take it.

Didn't the new inverter come with some kind of owner manual/installation guide?  You should not have to guess about connections.  There will be a lot of amperage passing through the inverter - you want it to be correct.  If in doubt - consult with a Pro.

Peter.. it would all work.. except for the L. Blank, N
Nothing in the manual. ... same description.

Chuck, your suggestion on the inverter you purchased... bet it hooked up easier than aims but it has stellar reviews

So.. inverter in..

Battery dead...charged 2 days.. oriellys.. says bad cell.. had nothing to do with charger...

coach pops breaker when plugged in.. turned off all power.. still pops....

Has inline surge and ATS... how can I figure out which one it is

My thoughts are to remove surge... wire direct to ATS.. see if that works

Would like to talk it through with someone...

As mentioned above, I would contact their tech support.  When we installed our Magnum I contacted tech support to verify wire up and remote settings before we powered it up.  No problems.  Direct swap.  We also chatted with a knowledgeable electrical wiz. from this Forum.  Good luck.  😃

Tripping breaker diagnosis:

Check ends of shore power cable, particularly male end.  With both ends UNPLUGGED, use an ohm meter to check for continuity between each outer straight (hot) and the center straight (neutral) and also fro outer straights to center round (ground).

Next, with shore power off, generator off, inverter off, open the ATS and look for signs of overheating/burned wires.  A dead short WILL leave telltale signs.

Last place I would check before suspecting the surge protector is to check the main breaker box hots and neutrals on the IN side from the ATS.

Glad to hear you finally got it all working, John.  Electrical troubles are VERY difficult to diagnose remotely, which may explain the lack of input from the Forum members.  Only way to really help is to be there in person.  Happily, seems you found some local assistance.  ^.^d
