Title: Filters for 3208
Post by: TAS69 on July 18, 2016, 05:58:12 pm
My friend recently purchased a 1990 Grandvilla with a 300 horse 3208 caterpillar. Was hoping some one who has owned one of these could give us a Wix number for oil and fuel filters.
            Thanks in advance! Tom

1990_filters-for-foretravel (http://beamalarm.com/Documents/belts-filters-hoses/1990-foretravel-filters.html)

Should be able to cross these numbers over to WIX.

May get some flack from this but from working on Cat engines for the last 30 years if I had one I would use the Cat brand oil
filters, they are made much better than any brand out there.

Wiz 51268 (2) Lube
Wix 33369
Wix 33352    One is fuel , other is the glass water separator.
These may not be exact for your engine, but will be close.
Cat brand filters are different / better / cheaper $$
Take engine # to Cat.

I own one of the 3208T's and I concur, use only the Cat filters-- the Wix will cause you problems.

Yes Cat filters only, I had an 84 ored with the 3208 and only used cat filters no problems with them had a friend wit an 0lder 3208. 81 model and he was having troubles with fuel, took it to a cat dealer and the mechanic took off the wix filter and threw it across the shop, put on a cat filter and no more troubles

Our 91 has a 3208TA and I have been using NAPA gold filters for years with no problems.  Depends on who you talk to I guess.  Have a great day  ----  Fritz

Never experienced a problem using Wix filters on my Cat engs. 3208 or 3406B /14.6L that had over 800k. Both new owners conveyed their satisfaction In performance and reliability.
Continue to use Wix filters on all applications on my 8.3 and 5.9 Cummins.

I agree cat filters are better built, but I also would use wix on anything I owned and sleep well at night. do what makes you happy. Both will protect your engine just fine.
