PO had 2 MK/deka house batteries, they are gel cell and have worked good so far.Not sure how long they have been in coach.
Will try and trace a date, found them on line for $600,has anyone had ant expierience with this brand?
Mine are starting to get weak,it won't be long.
My guru buddy only uses Mk gels.
I have three,
Mk's engineer told me of a lot of Foretravel owners that had contacted him with 10-12 years use.
A change occurred since in the plate mounting and they now are able to pre charge the plates before installation which can help show any defective plates prior to install.
He thought that the changes to the gels might double their cycle life....
Foretravel installed my MK's in 08 for the previous owner, and I hope they keep on working. Expensive and I think were standard equipment as well.
MK is just an another East Penn / Deka brand, and all East Penn 8D8G Gel batteries are identical, just the retail warranty can be all over the place with many different full and prorata months coverage. Many auto stores sell (can order) these identical East Penn batteries, each with their own label on the side, and each with their different pricing, from probably $380 to $600 for the exact same battery. We and many others swear by the East Penn gray case 8D8G Gel batteries and we usually replace them at 10-12 years even though they seem to be working ok. But temperature compensated battery charging voltages must be followed to get this type of life and to many deep discharges should be avoided.
I replaced my original gel batteries in my 2001 U270 in 2013. I replaced them with 2 gel batteries private labeled from Battery Giant- they are manufactured by DEKA. Working great and plan on getting 10 years or more out of them with good use.
