DW doesn't like it when I do my run of the generator . . . when she is doing the laundry. This last time she made it clear why. Turns out the generator does not power the washer/dryer.
According to the schematic I have, the washer/dryer is on Leg 1. For us the only other things on Leg 1 are the Aqua-Hot and the Rear Roof Air. I think the generator is wired the supply Leg 1 the same as shore power.
So why doesn't it run?
How should I troubleshoot?
Thanks, Dick
I don't have my wiring diagrams here, but my first thought would be to confirm wiring is as shown on schematic. Check the panel and confirm exactly what is powered.
I wonder if the washer dryer was original installation. My generator on all three of my fore travels would run the washer dryer.
Dick,
Do the other items on leg one work on the generator? And they all work on shore power?
Thanks John,
I was wondering if others had this problem or if washer worked fine on generator.
No I don't think this was installed by Foretravel. Have receipt indicating install by Camping World. I don't know if that was 1st install or replacement.
I thought the receptacle would have been pre-installed, bu maybe not?
Yes. They do.
If Camping World wired the washer/dryer in ahead of the automatic transfer switch (ATS), this could explain what you are seeing. There would be no good reason to do this, unless running a wire to the coach main breaker panel was extremely difficult, and would have added hours to the labor cost.
Is the breaker for the washer/dryer in the coach main breaker panel (where it should be) or somewhere else, possibly near the washer/dryer? This might tell us more on how it was wired.
Edit - As Roger has said, the wiring should have been pre-installed, wired to the breaker panel.
Dick, hot and cold water and electricity are there in our coach even without a washer/dryer.
Is this a combination washer dryer or a washer and a dryer?
There is a breaker labeled #12 Washer/Dryer in the electrical panel at the foot of the bed.
The unit is a combination Splendide Model 2000 S.
Thanks Roger, I take when you say the electricity was there, that a duplex receptacle was there and all they would have to do is plug the unit in?
Yup. It is all there under the raised floor. Under the carpet the floor has a 10x10" (about) panel that lifts out and there it is. H&C and 120v duplex outlet. If we had a w/d. But we would be hard pressed to give up the closet space.
But with CW who knows.
Dick and Rocky, on Beamalarm spec sheet says it is all hooked up for W/D
JohnH
A shot in the dark.
But did Camping World maybe not use the plug under the floor, but maybe the inverter only plug in the near by refer compartment? Or possibly as suggested did they add a new line, or use a different breaker?
Does the rear AC work on the generator?
Can you verify that breaker the washer is on in the breaker box and then send us a picture of your breaker box? That way we could verify that the rear AC and washer on the same phase in the panel.
I can not think of a single reason it would not work on generator, unless there is a problem with ATS and it lose the one phase.
Yes, the rear a/c does work.
Thanks all.
I will look into this next week and report back
Dick
Dick got me thinking about our install of our washer and dryer, I had used the power plug from the old vanity when we removed it for the washer and dryer.. so I tested it today while Eileen was doing laundry, killed the power from the pole and fired up the Genny all works as it should. Hope you get yours figured out Dick
