Title: Cooktop electronic starter

Can someone tell me which breaker operates the Gageneau cooktop electronic lighter? I can light them manually with a match but I don't hear the tell-tale 'clicking' when I depress either of the two cooktop burner selector buttons.
It worked last week !
I don't find anything else NOT working in my 1997 U320 so the cooktop may have its own dedicated breaker, but that seems odd.

Steve, On our '97 the GFCI plug that is in the bathroom feeds our cooktop ignitor. Try to trip it then reset it and see what happens.

What I think is odd, is they build a cooktop for RVs with a ignitor that runs off 110V ac. DUMB IDEA! Why didn't they use 12 volt ignitors? Heck, our Weber grill ignitor is powered by one AA battery, and it lasts all season. Sometimes I gotta wonder...

Do you know of a 12 volt end control high quality cooktop?

No, but that's not my point. If you are going to sell a product to the RV industry, it is only logical to power it with 12 volt DC, if at all possible. Since Gaggenau sells their cooktops in multiple markets (different countries, residential, RV, marine), they must make adjustments as required to the electrical control circuit. I'm just saying it would have been simple for them to fit a 12 volt ignitor to the RV cooktop. Or, perhaps there was a 12 volt DC model available back then, and for some reason Foretravel did not use it. Either way, IMO, not a smart (or logical) decision.
No big deal - as the PO stated, you can always use a match! 8)

Tiny Rv market for a world wide company from Europe. Especially at $2k per unit.

I agree that it should work off of 12 vdc, but it would still have to have some electronics as it has now to step up the voltage so as to create a long spark. One could probably install a piezo igniter as used on BBQ's for each burner if one only wanted to be on battery power. Or just use a match or hand held lighter to keep it simple. My original equipment low class 4 burner cooktop has a piezo igniter that works with out any electrical power. Sometimes fancy and expensive is not better.
