Title: New air bags
Post by: Dub on August 22, 2016, 04:47:47 pm
Just ordered 8 W01 358- 9448 air bags for this 280... Ran me $ 140.00 per bag from Truck Pro.. that's a lick but the old bags have to come off so we are doing it.. You can buy a cheaper bag but as much trouble as these are to change 8 at a time I don't want Road Force on it as I have had poor service from them on my trucks and trailers.. Firestone is the way to go on a bag in my opinion... I was hoping to get them for closer to $100.00 but we always hope for less and expect more.. I will be disappointed if someone tells me they got theirs for 80 bucks.. The man said for someone without an account they are $ 170.00 so I'm supposed to feel good.... waiting on that... Get this out of the way and begin the belts and hoses which I have in stock.

10-4... I just got another quote of 166 so my 140 could be worse. looks like you did ok at $150.00.. I buy a lot of truck parts from Truck Pro.. I probably have 20 air bags in the shop of various applications and they run from 100 to 180.

On the front end the back bags closest to the fuel tank and lp compartment, the bolt there is eating mechanics lunch getting a wrench on it.. Probably going to have the same issue on the drivers side because of the Gen compartment.

I have a U295 so it might be different but I removed the outside trim around the wheel. Make it very easy to get to.  I think I had more trouble with the brass air fitting and just cut it off.

I have read where some other members took a wrench, cut it up and welded it back to make it  get into that area.

I used a long 1/2" flex ratchet and extension with socket.

lots of threads on air bag replacement - try using the "search" function

Some take off fenders, some make special wrenches by modifying a low cost home center or harbor freight wrench
