Title: Aqua Hot Sanitizing
Post by: Numbers on August 24, 2016, 06:35:45 pm
Hello,

We just purchased a 1998 36' U320.  Work is being done to it so we don't have it in hand yet.  One system that will be very new to me is the Aqua Hot system - especially how to deal with this system when sanitizing the fresh water system.

I have been searching the forums, and reading the Aqua Hot manuals on-line, but I can't find much discussion on Aqua Hot and sanitizing.

The Aqua Hot manual has the comment stating bleach coming into contact with the hot water system's copper pipes for a prolonged period could lead to cracks and potential catastrophic failure of the Aqua Hot system.

With the Aqua Hot system so integrated into the fresh water system, how do you all recommend sanitizing the entire water system?  Do you follow standard bleach/water ratios and watch the dwell time?  Do you by-pass the Aqua Hot unit?

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Mine gets sanitized at the same time as the rest of the water system.  No problems so far after several years.

If you sanitize and flush the bleach out to have good tasting fresh water, you will be fine.
