Title: Motorhomes of Texas Employs Saints
Post by: TulsaTrent on September 14, 2016, 03:28:32 pm
I have usually heard good things about Motorhomes of Texas, especially the employees. I have never visited MOT, even though I have been to Nacogdoches twice. But I met two of their employees this week, at the FMCA six-state rally,  in Shawnee, OK. They are Craig Dorsett, Lot Manager of Sales, and Keith Davis, from their Remodel department.

On the way here, my generator came loose and tried to leave my coach. In the process, it broke the locking brackets from the fiberglass door. This was how I was informed: the door popped open in front of me about 30 miles from Shawnee, on I40. I wired the generator to the frame and limped the rest of the way.

I knew that MOT was one of the vendors and visited their booth. They did not bring a service team here, primarily promoting their used RV inventory and Remodeling services. I met Craig, who turned out to be the person who installed my generator in 1999. I asked him if he could find out what size bolts I needed. He said that Keith, who was out on an estimate, might know. Keith did not know, but said that he would stop by after closing to see what size I needed. I thought he would bring them the next day.

After dark, I heard some noises and went outside. Craig and Keith had their car pulled up, with the headlights on the front of my coach. They were just finishing tightening the last bolt to hold my generator in. They asked if I had the missing quiet box panels, and I told them they were at home. I had removed them to try to resolve an over-temperature fault when trying to run the generator. I asked them where the temperature sensor was and they showed me.

They checked the coolant level, and could not feel any down the radiator cap. They asked if I has some coolant with me. I did have a  jug of a 50/50 mix, So they removed the locking bolts and added coolant to the generator and overflow tank. They then powered on the generator and opened the petcock until all of the air was out of the system and it was running good. They replaced the locking bolts and suggested I run it for a couple of hours in the morning to make sure there  was no more temperature problem.

But wait, there's more . . .

They then reattached the latching brackets to the door, using the original holes, with slightly larger screws. They tested the unlock cable and adjusted the two lever arms to work properly. They asked me if I had a lubricant and I brought out my trusty spray bottle of CorrosionX. They sprayed that over the latches and hinge points, and my front door has never worked this good before. Previously, when I pulled the cable, the door come loose, and a subsequent pull would cause it to open up. Now, one pull of the cable, and the door FLIES open!

Now that Mother Theresa has officially been declared a Saint, I nominate Craig Dorsett and Keith Davis for consideration in the next round. As MOT ambassadors, they have won me as a future customer. In fact, we already have an estimate to replace my flooring.

It's always nice to discover that there are still some good guys out there. What Craig and Keith did to help out a stranger looking for two bolts went well beyond anything I have ever heard of. Thanks and kudos to them and Motorhomes of Texas.

I notice on ours that someone (prolly Brett), installed a heavy duty cable from the coach to the door to prevent that sort of "whoops".
That being said, those guys could have said, "make an appointment in NAC and we'll try to fit you in." Nope, they went above and beyond the call of duty; that's not only people that really cared, but the best advertising in the world! ^.^d

I have not had them have to work on it out in the road, but they...techs at MOT have talked me thru solutions to problems on the road about a dozen times.  I have repeatedly said that without them we just would not have the RV

More than that, i have used them when I was on the road and five other owners had problems I could not handle alone...MOT helped us out even though they were not then, not yet!, their customers.

Now if you would just let them get back to the shop, a portion of our remod will continue!  (Actually we await Lowes getting the refrigerator, and Davis will be back to oversee a part of the install of a cabinet that he and Jackie have agreed upon)

I will never forget the first time I broke down on the road.  Called FOT and got no help, called MOT and got Keith Davis. Keith not only diagnosed that my air regulator on the slide over the steps had burst the diagfram and was blowing air out very loudly, but gave me the part number, called Napa in Gillette to ensure they had the part, and gave me instructions on how to install.  He and Craig are high quality individuals and always willing to help AND expect nothing in return.  Tks MOT for hiring great people.

Craig and Keith are top notch.  It is the service we have come to expect from MOT and they do bend over backwards to help.

Wonderful to hear such a great story. That is a combination of good people who care about their work, enjoy their job, have a great work ethic, and just plain "Texas". MOT has some terrific people working there, and they know their stuff. I am fairly certain they do not think that they did anything out of the ordinary when they came in the dark and got all this squared away. There are guys like these two all over the place, and we just thank our lucky stars for them.

We bought our coach from MOT almost 9 years ago- have used them for service, remodel, etc.  They do great work and treat us like family ( in a good way).  I am not surprised at all what they did for you Trent- that is who they are.................... ^.^d

MOT sold our coach yesterday. We took it there about six weeks ago. They made repairs that we requested (using our extended service contract), made the coach ready for sale, and sold it. We could not be more happy with the way they handled our sale. We had our coach serviced at Foretravel of Texas for the three years we owned it. Knowing what we know now, I wished we would have had it serviced at MOT.
