Update from the HWH Plunger Redoux -
The nose of our coach is rising on the right front about 1/2" in 24+ hours. As measured between the air bag base plates using a tape measure. The left is not raising at all.
Am ordering 1 - RAP1940 COST $109.00 from HWH and will replace the right front solenoid when it arrives.
Also have two rebuild kits coming when Tom @ newellgurus gets his order together. When the kits arrive I will rebuild the front and rear "six packs". Will rebuild the one I pull of now so I will have a spare. My spare inventory continues to build. :D
Keep a close eye on it, I had a right front doing that caused the right windshield to crack.
Agreed, although we did not have a windshield crack.
The symptoms match our raise solenoid leaking at the valve seat. It was only when we did the air bag plate measurements that we figured out a corner was raising rather than the opposite one lowering. Glad you figured yours out quickly.
^.^d on rebuilding the take-off rather than discarding it. I suspect that there are folks on the board who would be happy to take leaking cast-offs for future rebuilds, too, if anyone isn't inclined to rebuild the valves themselves. For those who remove leaking solenoid valves and plan on discarding them, consider "Freecycling" them (and any other potentially reusable/rebuildable parts in the classifieds.)
Well said, Michelle. When our previous coach was rear-ended and trashed (according to the insurance company), we found a young couple who had a love for our coach and we gave it to them. We'd gotten our investment in the coach back, in spades, so passed her on. What's that line, "one persons trash is another persons treasures".
Scott,
While you are waiting on your parts, if you want to avoid any chance of problems (like the potential windshield cracks mentioned above), there is a easy solution. Level your coach the way you want it, turn the HWH panel off, then release all the air pressure out of the front air tank. Your coach should then maintain the level stance for quite a while.
Chuck - How would I release all of the air out. The nose is down on the stops so I can't get under to open the valve and I don't have a valve by the front driver's wheel?
HWH is sending the solenoid today so I presume I should get it mid-week next week. In the mean time I will lower the nose every morning and evening.
I plan on rebuilding that solenoid when I get the kits and keep it as a spare.
I have been dying to pull the six packs and rebuild them - NOT. :D
Couldn't you just pump the brakes until empty?
I assumed that all coaches have a way to drain the water out of the air tanks, without having to crawl underneath. Guess I was wrong. Are you parked in a spot that requires the front end to be down on the stops, in order to be level? If that is the case, then I guess craneman's idea is the best "workaround". However you do it, once the front tank (and wet tank) are empty, the coach should "stay" where you want it.
Thanks for the thoughts guys. :D
