Title: Need some Decals for my 1999 U320
Post by: Ben and Bonnie on September 22, 2016, 02:55:18 pm
I had a little run in with the side of the house and damaged my large bay door on the driver's side. I am getting a new door made by Foretravel but I was hoping to find some decals that are obsolete. Our coach is a 1999 U320 and the decals are the pewter color with gray tones. If any one has any that they would like to get rid of, I would sure appreciate it.

Did you contact Extreme for the door as when I had a similar thing happen in Mexico I contacted James and they had an old centre door that fitted our 2000 for 1/3rd the price of new. I just had to remove decals etc and they painted it to match the Full body paint we have. They were busy so they allowed me to do all the work except paint.

Xtreme told me just a week or so ago that there's a guy who bought the old stock vinyl from FOT and that he might have some left.  The info they gave me was:

Thanks for the info on Robert. I called him and he has already gotten back in touch with me. He will check his inventory, hopefully he will have some decals for me.

Check out a company that does truck wraps. They can make anything you want and usually at a fair price. Let them install it, also.

Ben & Bonnie,

I've gone thru this process also and would offer the following: My coach is a 1995 that has spent most of it's life outside in the southwest USA.  Decals were faded, cracked, and peeling. Did the research on exact replacements and was told that Foretravel had already sold all replacement stock to Robert - however, and this is what you need to weigh carefully, all of these replacements were purchased at the same time as the original decals and had spent unknown years in the attic at Foretravel before being sold. There are a number of owners, on the forum, who have purchased these aged decals and I would suggest that you reach out to them and solicit their opinions regarding the advisability of installing "new" 18 year old decals.  I eventually opted to have Extreme Graphics strip the old decals and paint exact replacements over the original gelcoat.  Wasn't cheap but James did a great job & I've been very happy with the results.

Just a fellow "Harris" sharing his experience.  Wish you the best with your coach.

Jon

We had our replacements done at RV Stripes and Graphics in Apache Junction AZ.  Steve can duplicate them and either mail them to you or do the whole thing at his shop.  The only issue I see with using any source is the difference in color that occurs from exposure.              RV Stripes & Graphics, Inc.

A big thumbs up! Steve did our coach after a re-paint.  I'm pretty picky, and, for the life of me, could find ZERO defects!  ^.^d

If you don't mind what did it cost for them to do it? My 97 U320 needs a new set soon

There are three components to price.  I am trying to recall the invoice.  Stripping the old decals...save about 700.  The decals themselves about  2000.  Application about 700.  That is ballpark.  3400 for the entire job.  But I may be a little low eg 100 or so.  I had other custom work done as well so I am not sure of overlap.  Flawless work.  You will be hard pressed to find more decent human beings than Steve and his father.  They have electrical hookups and water fill.  You can stay in your coach.

If you do decide to have them done, there is a detailing firm, European Detail, that does an incredible gel coat restoration.  They are the exclusive contractor for detailing for the Jackson Barrett auction.  They use a four part process and the shine is incredible.  1100

We went to them after the decal removal and then back to Steve for the finish.  I attached before and after.  Oops after and before as well as Steves shop after gelcoat restoration.

With the posts below I should date.  March 2016.  For a more current price on paint take a look at Dons headlight job.  His were painted on and look great.
