Title: Replacing swing arm lamp and/or sconces?
Post by: Numbers on September 28, 2016, 04:19:28 pm
Has anybody replaced the original bedroom swing arm lamps, and/or sconces in the living room on a late 90's U series coach?

The mounting plate behind the original wall mounted factory fixtures seems to be a pretty permanent setup.  Has anyone found something that uses the same mounting plates?

Thanks,
Chris

We used those plates for they were so stable. It did require a certain amount of drilling new holes and such but it worked out well.

Sorry, picked wrong pic. Will try again. The before pic.

Wow!

Where did you find the fixture?  My searches haven't turned up anything like that for 12 volt sconces.

Mike Leary can confirm, but recall replacing ours with these: Gustafson Scavo Glass Wall Light - .99 (http://www.adventurerv.net/gustafson-scavo-glass-wall-light-p-30993.html?osCsid=mnrgvqnt5b2q3kc8je1aeasgu4)

They are ITC lights from their Decorative collection.

Willow™ Pin Up Light - ITC RV (http://www.itc-rv.com/product/willow-pin-up-light/)

It's called the Willow Pin Up Light but they have many more. Just be sure to check out the dimensions of the wall base,

Alan,

If you still have the other parts (not the shade or light socket), and do not plan to use them, I would be happy to pay you to ship them to me. I am working on an idea to re-purpose them.

Please let me know

(If any of the rest of you have some of those same parts, I would like yours, too.)

Thanks,

Trent

@TulsaTrent we have already distributed this in total to various FoFor members I think. I will check in "the box" of parts and get back to you.

Thank you for the replies regarding replacement lamps.  For now we went the easy and inexpensive route - new lamp shades.  They make a big difference.  We also changed the clear glass shades on the living room sconces to translucent glass shades.  All these lamps work right now, and over all they are in good shape so I'm not going to mess with them.

With the exception of the 18" fluorescent tubes, we've changed all the bulbs in the coach over to 2700 kelvin LEDs.  The fluorescent tubes are on the list for the future.

Talk to me about shades.  What did you use?

For the swing arm lamps over the bed we went with a fabric shade from Lowes hardware that is 7.5 inches tall.  Top diameter is 8", and bottom diameter is 10".

Shop allen + roth 7.5-in x 10-in White Fabric Drum Lamp Shade at Lowes.com (http://www.lowes.com/pd/allen-roth-7-5-in-x-10-in-White-Fabric-Drum-Lamp-Shade/50115885)

For the wall sconces we found something at Home Depot:

Westinghouse 6-1/4 in. Handblown Devonshire Linen Glass Shade with 2-1/4 in.... (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Westinghouse-6-1-4-in-Handblown-Devonshire-Linen-Glass-Shade-with-2-1-4-in-Fitter-and-4-1-2-in-Width-8573408/204313301)
