Title: Air conditioner will not light up
Post by: Andy 2 on September 29, 2016, 03:07:01 pm
Well thought I had my ATSl problem solved, however Now either of my airs will fire off? My shore power works ,generator works, have power to all outlets except the outlet for the microwave. My question is will the manual transfer switch be the source of the problem?oh and the inverter works as well. I am stumped any help would great. Thanks Andy

Andy,

Do you have a wall thermostat-- if so, it is 12 VDC.

Or do you just turn them on at the on-ceiling units-- if so need to verify 120 VAC to the units.

For the non-functioning microwave-- quite likely it is on a GFI protected circuit.  Reset all GFI's.

Thanks Brett,. I do have wall thermostat, and have tested the ground fault and it does reset, but the funny thing is I will get a reading of 50,60 77 volts through the outlet.i get a reading of 120 at the breaker for the microwave. I will check to see if I have blown fuses for the thermostat.

Anything below 107 VAC is scary-- 77 means major issue.

What is voltage at the CG outlet?  What are you plugged into?

If safe working around 120/240 VAC check at the ATS for IN and OUT voltage on both legs of the shore power.  You really need to trace down this significantly dangerously low voltage.

One qualifier-- if you have a modified sine wave inverter, a regular voltmeter will read just over 100, as most voltmeters are not accurate at reading MSW. But, this would apply ONLY to those circuits powered by the inverter and ONLY when on inverter power, not shore or generator.
