Title: Gen door not staying up
Post by: John44 on October 13, 2016, 10:51:23 am
Installed new gas shocks on gen door. The door will not "latch" or hold in the up position. There are 2 short springs, one on each
side where the hinge pivots. One spring is not connected seems like it is stretched a little too long.Do these springs have
something to do with holding the door up?

Not sure what type gas shocks you have, but while I'm researching replacing ours, this works: Good old American ingenuity!  ^.^d

Probably not relevant since we have a different model, but mine, I believe, has an actual latch that locks the door in the open position.

Front gen door is like the rear engine door, in that it does not have a stay-up latch.  What air pressure was in the new struts, could it be too low?

The new air springs that I put on our 97 U270 were 135 lbs.
