Title: Winegard "Ant up" warning
Post by: Dick & Sue on November 10, 2016, 08:51:35 am
This problem started just as we started as we were leaving home.
Check the antenna on the roof, everything looked good, but still the "Ant Up" warning.
That evening checked the Warning Lt/Alarm, wiring, A-4749
Pin 18 shows (+) to the antenna up.  I assume that the Guard roof switch (like the one for the screen door) could be bad.
Wired in a switch from pin 18 to ground. Hopefully that will work until I can check it out when we stop for a while.

Anyone else have any experience with this?

Not an uncommon failure.  Those alarm magnets and connections out in the weather can degrade.  Pretty easy to find replacements at any store that sells alarm equipment.

95% probability the switch is bad/misaligned.  You can replace it - new ones available at most hardware/big box home improvement stores.

Or, you could simply leave it turned off (with your switch) and don't worry about it.  You DO include checking the TV antenna (is down) in your pre-departure checklist, right?  If so - no problem!

Our antenna alarm makes a very, very loud, almost eardrum breaking screeching sound---until I tell her to calm down!!! That I just forgot to remove the "ANTENNA UP" card hanging from the steering wheel spoke.  >:D  >:D  >:D  :))

Thanks all.
That's what I thought was wrong. For now while on the road, the "switch" will work and when we slow down, I'll wire in a jumper wire and then look for a replacement alarm magnet.
