Title: new diagnostic tool
Post by: Old phart phred on November 10, 2016, 05:32:51 pm
For the smartphone users a new thermal imaging device, that can be used to spot overheated items like wiring, circuit breakers, tires, bearings, engine and transmission components, wet spots in insulation or walls or roof structures, probably even tank levels.  can also be used to find cold spots in the cooler months.  $250.00.  I have no ties to this company. also available for apple IOS.

FLIR ONE for Android (http://flir.com/flirone/android/)

This company is in the thermal imaging business and makes so really $$$$$ equipment also

Additional applications could be detecting warm  blooded critters within a 50 feet of you or in your rig, and dragging brake shoes or loose wiring connections. A quick scan as you walk around the coach during stretch break may save you a CB. Feel free to chime in on additional idea's.

I have the seek camera for iphone. Love it. Money well spent, especially electrical connections. My only complaint is having to remove my phone from its protective case for the camera to fit.

Got it today. Had to take my phone out of it's case since Otter box case is so big.

Went to play store and downloaded the software.  Set up was easy once I plugged in. When you move phone around if you move too fast it will not get an image.  I went out to the breaker box and saw that a few  breakers were warmer then others by a few degrees.  When I touched them I could not feel any temp different.

Right now seems like a good toy, kind of like the IR temp guns.  Will play with it more once the battery in it is charged up.
