Title: ABS Brakes
Post by: prevostart on November 20, 2016, 10:11:35 am
After installing new brakes the ABS light goes off but a minute later comes back on, Right front was the only hub that had to come off because of seal leak, and I know it must be that one because I drove it after fronts and light came on. A few years ago changed rear rotors and same thing happened one of rear sensors out of speck and replaced it, and this is where I don't remember where I checked it from I guess at ABS module UN plug each wheel and check the Ohms, Where is the Module? How important is the ABS system on the coach, your never going to lock up the brakes?  Wheel sensor part# Wabco TDAR955342  Volco# WI 85106610 ???

Important on wet roads.
If your system is the same as my '95 you can test it by applying the brakes, then turn on the key, the system will see the request for brakes but because no wheels are turning it will send two release signals to each wheel. Should help you find which wheel isn't working.

ABS "saved" us a couple of times when fools pulled out in front of us and we had to brake really hard. Kinda sounds like a machine gun. I believe one time I told the DW that I loved her because I wasn't sure we were going to get stopped.

The ABS light can also be triggered by the sensor being too far from the tone ring.

The sensor sits in a sleeve pointed at the tone ring it is easily knocked back in by accident and incorrect air gap will lead to poor signal. Push the sensor out until it touches the ring and it will back off the required amount from the ring (it's not much).

Sensors only come with so much wire and then plug into either a harness or the module itself you could follow the wire to the first connection.

My light turns on upon power up and stays on until moving about 5mph.  Then it stays off!
