Title: Vent Assembly
Post by: jor on November 22, 2016, 06:57:35 pm
Anyone know how this little guy goes together. The rotating flapper has two tangs which snap into place but I sure can't figure out how to do it.

Here's how this problem came up. The small vent to the left of the driver was missing the flapper.

When I was installing my windshield shade the little mounting pin on the end of the shade slipped out, bounced on the dash and went right down vent. What luck! I mean, how could that possibly happen? I had to laugh. Anyhow, after some disassembly I was able to disconnect the vent hose and out popped the pin. Along with it came the flapper mentioned above.

If anyone has the answer to this one, you're in for a beer and a couple of tacos.

Because of the flat sides, it looks like it can only fit one direction (okay, two directions). I think I would try inserting it from the bottom at an angle. After that, you're on your own.

Good luck,

Do you have another vent like it for comparison?

Jor, do not worry about it or you may be hyper-vent-ilating about it :))

Yea, I do. I see how it is assembled but I can't figure out how to do it. I suspect the barrel separates from the top ring but I'm afraid to reef on it. I may end up applying brute force which usually does not end well.

Not bad, Haygarth!
