My speed is steady but speedometer is moving up to almost 80. Then it comes back down. Anyone have any insight as to the problem?

Could be sender or speedo. You may need to pull them both and send them to a speedo shop for diagnosis. The sender usually will fail in the negative direction, so my first choice would be the speedo. Have a great day ---- Fritz

When my spedo was acting up it would peg the needle. I would have to shut down the engine and restart it to reset it.

Not much help here but I have to comment. When we bought our 2000U295 the odometer was only visible if pressure was applied to an area around the digital readout. We had MOT install a new speedo and 17k miles later all was fine. As we approached MOT to leave our coach for consignment sale the engine hours part of the tachometer started to flicker. That is how it was left as the coach sold 5 weeks later. Recently I had to replace the gage cluster in my daughter's 1996 VW Jetta due to an intermittent speedo/odo. All 3 products mentioned here were made by VDO USA. I question if this is the longevity seen in VDO products produced in Europe ?
Good time here to thank the forum for very valuable help with Foretravel life. I will likely continue to read the forum as it is just plain interesting.
Been there, done that.
The Speedometer is most likely the least costly item in your FT. Mine was doing the same thing.. Call Foretravel to get the one you will need.. $25/30.00 pc
Remove & clean the 3 wires on the back of the speedometer, make sure ground & ignition connections are good.
