Title: All Electric Unihome
Post by: Old Hippie on December 16, 2016, 11:28:14 am
My coach is now "all Electric" after installing a new induction cook top and residential refrigerator and removing the propane tank.
We really like it.

My paper work is filed so no exact numbers.
The cook top is a DuoTherm mini duo. Got it from amazon.
The fridge is a Samsung counter depth model that I ordered on line from Loews. MOT installed it.
"After a little router work the cook top dropped right in" is what Kieth Davis said.
I sealed up the vent holes where the propane tank was and installed a covered bottom. I now have a tool box there.

Nice job Rick!  I am waiting for my Dometic to quit on me so I can do the same.

Way to go Rick! Are you adding more batteries? A bigger inverter? What's next?

We will be in NAC mid January.  Maybe we will see you.

Currently I have no plans for additional battery or inverter. On our recent trip to San Diego the fridge did fine on the current set up. Plenty of battery power for it to run on a 7 hour drive and over night at a rest area. That big ole generator is my ace in the hole.

Just back from MoT with the same reefer install.

Inverter on/shore power off at noon 20DEC; engine on at 4:00 pm 20DEC; engine off 10:00 pm 20DEC; solar (360w) charging ~ 7:30 am 21DEC. Lowest battery voltage noted 12.4v; reefer set at 38F/-2F & ice-maker off with light load in fridge & genset on auto-start.

Similar setup with former Dometic set on AC only - genset auto started after 3 1/2 hours.

House power is 3xAGM 8D est 5 yrs old. Have been using True Induction single burner now being replaced by the True Induction Mini-Duo. Have not tried induction on Inverter with reefer running yet.

Happy camper so far & looking forward to propane tank removal.
