Title: Engine compartment decals
Post by: Bob & Sue on December 16, 2016, 01:21:22 pm
As I have been servicing certain components in the engine area, I've tried to clean things up by removing any rust (not much on this coach) and polish the aluminum or stainless or paint or (clean) hoses.  I would like to re paint some things and rather than tape over existing decals, sure would be great to just replace them.  Coolant reservoir and power steering/ fans oil reservoir for example.

There must be a resource for this stuff somewhere, but a half hearted search on Amazon / eBay / F Forum has turned up very little. Has anyone been there done that and have a plan or idea or resource for this type of stuff ?

I recently wanted to replace the Rotella ELC Coolant stickers on both the Cummins and Genset and I was finally able to obtain some from Shell directly, but it involved about 10 emails to people in SE Asia.

I have extras that I can send you if they're applicable.

You might try a sign making business . Might cost a bit for the patterns, just a thought.

You might try a label making machine, I think the one I have was not expensive.

sign companies can cut new ones in vinyl for a few bucks each or do digital ones which I like better. I also use a silver felt pen to mark all those places when I have serviced them then next time around clean the old off and write new dates/ miles etc in.
You can of course also write on tank the fluid that should be in there.

So I'm guessing that the original equipment decals would come from cummins if so equipped and not from Foretravel. I suppose that would make sense if the drive train came in as a complete package.

I'll check with an auto rebuilder. If after a collision and things all get repainted, one would think they re label some stuff.

Bottom line, I've got a label maker and I know how to use it :).    Thanks to all for the feedback

Having restored a couple of cars to show condition, it was important to get exact decals for the engine compartment and there were numerous sources for them.  I am also working on my engine area and would like to replace the original decals, so I understand where you are coming from, Bob.  A number of these decals have relevant information and are useful.  I would think Foretravel would have them.  If you find a source, Bob, I would be interested in the information.
