Sharp Carousel R-1870 turntable won't turn, so I'm thinking the motor needs replaced as the touch pad is new.
Does anyone have experience with R&R of the motor? Do I have to remove the entire microwave to work on it or can I just remove the bottom of the oven to access the drive motor?
Hi T-Man,
A quick search revealed a very similar issue where the carousel motor had failed and a simple motor replacement fixed the issue. Here is a link to the video; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvWWvaplQN8.
Good luck,

T-man, does your microwave have a awithch on the touchpad, seem to recall that mine did?
Yes, and it is indicating ON/OFF. Thinking the control board now as you can't replace just the one relay.

Just a quick update.....................I removed the turntable motor and tested it. It's fine, and when I initially put everything back together and turned the oven on the turntable didn't work. But I think the next time the oven was used it turned like it should, and it's been working ever since.
Thanks for your help.
Hi T-Man,
On our Sharp Convection /Microwave oven there is a button on the lower left of the control panel that says "turntable on/off". Is that not working?

Good Morning Jim,
Yes the ON/OFF button is working. The problem was intermittent in the beginning, with turntable ON.
