Title: Microphor needs replacing UP DATE
Post by: sam7 on January 10, 2017, 07:47:57 pm
UP DATE

We have a unknown model electric Microphor straight drop toilet I would like to replace. The trouble is in our 2001 open bathroom
this model has the "drop" hole 81/2" from the wall instead of the typical 11" or so inches. A standard toilet won't work.
I really would rather replace it with a simple non electric one than fix this one.
Any suggestions?

UP DATE: Called Microphor. It's a model 219. She (Anna Marie) suggested changing the cam. Mentioned the motor was not making any sound and she mentioned a new motor is $331.50. So I did the cheap thing first and changed the cam (had a spare) and now it flushes just fine. Perhaps the motor won't run (guessing) if cam is jammed or on a bind. Don't care as  long as the toilet works.
In research regarding replacing the toilet it appears the best was to go is documented on Barry's website about 219 microphor.
Because of the 8 1/2" space from the wall to center of closet flange you will need a low rise toilet and a 45 degree off set flange
and a 5" high platform. When put together the height is about the same as a high rise. Refer to Barry's sight for pictures.
Thanks for the inputs.

Maybe one with a 10" rough-in dimensions and a offset flange from Lowe's or most plumbing supply stores.

If you put in  residential toilet you better get a bigger waste tank.

what I used to replace my turbo turd (michrophor) after a series of costly repairs

Aria Deluxe RV Toilet by Thetford - PPL Motor Homes (http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-toilets-tanks/rv-toilets-aria-deluxe.htm)

pros -

elongated seat
raised seat
low water usage
ultra reliable
quiet

cons -

still electric - which I like -(not a con to me, but it sounds like you want manual) bolt pattern to attach to floor different than Michrophor - so will leave two holes in your tile/floor until you replace or plug

Same one was in my coach when we purchased it. Only difference is the one on mine has a handle instead of buttons.

Aria Classic, High Profile White toilet
Pedal Flush
Manufacturer's Number: 19800

Offers the luxury of an elongated full residential-size seat and bowl. Plus, a precise, high-pressure flush nozzle delivers a more powerful, bowl-cleaning flush. Uses about half the water of other brands. Pedal flush. High-profile seat is a full 17-1/2".

This toilet works the best of any one I have had in my 5 different RVs.

Is it the year or 36 ft. model that makes it different from our '99 40 ft. model?
No riser and straight drop from the toilet at 12"

Craneman, most likely because the moho is 36' with walk thru bath and toilet is at an angle against linen closet. Yours looks like a 220 that is longer from front to back. If that toilet had been used it would have taken up too much floor space in our moho.

Thanks for  the  information John.  Were there any issues with the installation?  Did the bolt holes match up, etc?
