Looks like I need to replace my accumulator in my 95 gran villa. When I depressed the air valve water came out. When I turn the pump on it runs continuously very little pressure.
I read in early post that I can put the new accumulator tank anywhere in the cold water line (perhaps under the sink), if I do that do I need to remove the old accumulator tank or can I just leave it there.
I may put in a 4 gal tank under the sink because there is more room if there is any advantage to using the larger tank
All opinions are appreciated
Thanks in advance
Donnie
My opinions:
1. Yes, you can put it anywhere in the cold water line. I mounted ours under the bathroom sink, to free up space in the water pump bay.
Water Pump Accumulator Tank (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=30068.msg258043#msg258043)
2. Remove the old tank. Don't want the water there to get stagnant and nasty. Even if it's empty, still takes up valuable space.
3. Larger tank means more water will flow out of faucets before the pump kicks on. But then the pump will also run longer.
4. Be sure new tank is pressurized to slightly less (2 psi) than pump "kick on" pressure,
before you turn the water pump on.
Thanks for the input
Do I need to remove the hot water heater to remove the old tank?
Thanks again
Donnie
Our tank was originally "hanging" in a bracket screwed to the bottom of the metal frame that supports the water heater. So in our case, no, did not have to do anything to the water heater to remove the tank.
You'll end up with a water line that must be capped off. Easiest thing is to use SharkBite termination cap. They just push on the end of the cut off pipe. Work great. Look in the upper right corner of the photo below - you'll see the brass cap on the grey pipe:
Donnie,
You can also just eliminate the tank altogether. That's what I did on my last rig. Freed up the space and never missed it. (Nice photo and compartment, Chuck!)

That's what I did (Thanks Chuck) works like a charm with 4008 pump...
Photo below
OP doesn't say what kind of pump they have. Some pumps work very well without a pressure tank...some not so good. We tried running our new 4008 first without the tank, then with it. We prefer with the tank - sounds more "relaxed" to me (perception is everything).
As always, DWMY(think you are)H.
Chuck.
I see you have the same temp/humidity sensor in the water bay that we have. Nice to know what's going on there. We also put one under the front cap above the grill and one in the back window (added by PO) and the base unit over the door. We now know what the temp/humidity is everywhere around the coach.
Is yours working good for you ?
Bob n Sue.
Actually, the remotes are still working fine, but the base unit broke - it quit receiving the data from the remotes. So I replaced it with a slightly simpler model (link below) which is working great. I left the old remotes in place because I can still use them as digital thermometers when I open the bay doors. Have one in both ends of the wet bay, along with the new senders for the new unit, and the 3rd one in the bedroom next to the bed.

Does the new unit show multiple readings or just one st a time. I do like the original because it has multiple readings to compare on a single screen. Humidity / temp here verses there kind of thing.

The new one just shows temps - temp at the base unit on the bottom, and cycles through the 3 remotes on the top. Time in the middle.
update. The accumulator was replaced without any issues ( a little tight area to work but manageable), I put the same size ( 2 gal) purchased from home depot in the same location
again thanks to those who offered guidance

Donnie,
Did you adjust PSI to pump cut in PSI minus 2 PSI?
How do we determine the pump cut in pressure. I must have missed that part and I also just replaced the accumulator.
You will have to go to our pump manufacturer's website or owners manual for the pump.
For many of the older pumps it is 25 -2= 23 PSI. But there have been several different pumps used over the years.
yes I set the pressure to 23 psi and it works well
thanks again
