Title: Compressor is at 95psi but Awning is 22psi
Post by: DavidS on February 20, 2017, 12:13:39 pm
I am trying to get the ZipDEE awning on my Coach to work (hasnt worked for the previous owner for a while).

Took the 12v compressor off and had it checked .. its running at 95 psi . Gauge at the awning control box is at 22psi. I removed and replaced the regulator and it is still at 22 psi.

Any ideas where to start? is there a solenoid that it goes through that could be bad? not much for schematics but I will look at it again to see if the main feed goes into a manifold of sorts..

Any ideas or help would be appreciated. thanks

Next I think I will run a dedicated awning compressor but if I can figure it out and not adding anything that is what I would like to do if possible

Might check with the awning manufacturer to see what the

recommended pressure in on the operating mechanism.

Could you have a yet to be found pressure regulator?

I am trying to get the girrard awning on my Coach to work (hasnt worked for the previous owner for a while).

Isn't the air awning on a 2002 a ZipDee, not a Girard?

David, l had the same suggestion as Michelle.....hesitate to post the same thing, she has already said it.

But the 02 commonly had an air powered zip dee or such, not the Girard.  Not to say it is not....but that is different than my experience, limited though it may be, have looked at a number of the 02.  Pretty sure my Girard on the 05 was electric.

And the air awnings often had a second compressor, do not know if after market added but one was not sufficient to split the duties with slides, as I heard it.

Call if in town David,

mike

Have 02 myself and talked to Jimmy at Zip Dee several times he is great.  I always have 100 # of pressure.  There is a fuse behind the middle of the box.  If not worked in a while this fuse may be blown.  Mine now works fine, but if not opened in while may have to give the back arm a push and then air takes over.  Electric pushes out and air takes it up.  Make sure u have both.  It's a great awning when working and to my knowledge the 02 is the only year for this model.

Watching... Have not gotten around to addressing the Zip-Dee in-op yet.
I do know that the adjustable? regulator (leaking bad) is kaput on ours and the wires are pulled out on the leading (front) arm. but the electric motor drive is good..
our build # is close to yours.

I do have a Girard. It has a heat sensor. If you move it in and out a couple of times, it will stop responding until it cools off.

Ok, so I installed a separate compressor for the awning and Tires (basically). After messing with the on/off switch I had the box take in some air and expel through the rear arm( kicked out water) then nothing. nothing moved, just sounded like it took in some air. I was looking at the fuse .. it is sitting flush but doesnt push in or do anything. Is that the fuse that could go out? How would I know if it went out? I get the lights on d5 and d6 I believe and it clicks when you push the remote button. I have 110 psi to the control box but again I get nothing.. Ideas?

check out this compressor kinda cool to say the least and it builds air fast

^.^d  Please advise your results.  I also had an additional compressor to power our Zip Dee and Jimmy was instrumental in our operation.  He is all things Aip Dee.
