Title: Cable TV reception
Post by: djpauls on February 25, 2017, 03:17:23 pm
Currently in a park with cable TV service.  For the first several days had excellent reception and then poor (no sound and fuzzy picture).  OTA antennae works, Satellite works, Winegard Sensor Pro seems to work correctly (yes it is in Park cable mode).  We have confirmed that the signal is good at the post with a TV tester.  Replaced all components and connections at post as a precaution. Confirmed that cables are OK with TV tester.  Confirmed that connections at the back of cable receptacle in utility bay are tight and confirmed that connections at the back of the Sensor Pro are tight.  Both TVs in the coach react the same.  I am baffled.  Any ideas?

Make sure the Antenna booster is turned OFF.  There should be no light when watching cable and the light should be ON when watching over the air.

Winegard Sensor Pro in Park cable position is amplifier off.  Double checked.

First, try another length of cable (if you haven't already).

Then check the connectors on all associated coach cable wiring.  We found a number of them marginal on our 2003 and this manifested as snowy/signal degradation during a TV-watching session, which made us think it was a component going bad, not the cabling itself.  Eventually had to redo every cable connector in the coach.  Issues were center conductors too short,  shielding working its way loose, and connectors coming loose.  These weren't obvious until we actually visually inspected every connector.

I found a number of coax connectors on our FT that weren't crimped on.
