Title: Bedroom Fans
Post by: jor on March 25, 2017, 06:16:05 pm
Needed to move the air around in the bedroom. I thought about putting in a ceiling fan (for about three seconds) but ended up putting in a couple of 8" 12 volt units. I went with an inexpensive model from Amazon, about 25 bucks each. In our last rig I installed Hellas which sell for about $65 each. They always seems kinda cheap to me. These move a similar amount of air and produce about the same level of sound. We'll see how they hold up.

Anyhow, in past rigs we've had the little panel above the bed with the clock, generator start and lights. This rig, a 270, isn't equipped with those I note, however, that all the wiring is there. I used one of those hots with an added rocker switch and we're good to go.

jor,

I put a Hunter ceiling fan several years ago. Very quiet and circulates the air well even on the low setting. Hunter is a very reliable brand.

Had one in our 99. Never liked it for two reasons:
1. Ran on 110v.
2. Fear of decapitation.

We have loved our bedroom ceiling fan and couldn't live without it.

jor,

I connected my bedroom fan to the secondary inverter I use for the TVs etc. and installed a remote switch for stop/start.
I try to head off decapitation.

Now that's a great idea.

....can somebody please dig up LookingWest's (Richard & Susan) thread about their ceiling fan please?  ...it's  a classic & loaded with good  :o  ideas....

I use a small rotating tower fan on the tall cabinet at the foot of the bed, easy to leave on floor when traveling.

We installed a DC ceiling fan recommended by Dave Abel.  Love it and no inverter required.  Not as strong as an AC but moves the air nicely.

We used a 110v 42" very close ceiling hugger fan.  Ours hangs down a max of 8".  It seems to work better pulling air up and then down the sides of the BR.  Wouldn't be without it.  I think Richard and Susan had a 52" fan hanging lower.  Ouch!

With the two small fans we are both happy. That was not always the case with the ceiling fan.
