Title: House battery/Inverter/solar
Post by: Jim Sizemore on March 27, 2017, 10:04:46 pm
I have installed a systerm isolated from the factory one in an econoline class B. The inverter has a ground lug on it's cabinet. Do I want it tied to the isolated house system or to chassis ground?

I don't know about a converted econoline class B, but on our coaches, the chassis and house batteries share the DC ground. Even if they didn't (say every house ground was home runned to to a ground bus bar on the load side of a battery monitor shunt), the grounds would have to be tied together to have a functioning boost capability.

Another question: Shouldn't I be able to boondock, and when the factory house battery runs down, plug the shorepower cord into my inverter and have power in the camper until the isolated batteries are down??
