Having trouble finding the serial number on the 8.3 Cummins, where exactly is it?
On my engine:
Standing at the back, looking at engine. See the air conditioning compressor - directly below that is a flat sheet metal engine cover with the "oil fill" hole in the middle. At the top right corner of this cover, on the edge, you'll see the black engine data plate. The fuel injection pump is directly behind it.
The gauge in the pic is for what?
It looks like it mite be for the lift pump fuel pressure.

Chuck,
What is your lift pump pressure at idle?
and I noticed that your coolant is green............. what type are you using?
Got it.
After that photo was taken, I installed a adjustable overflow valve. My fuel pressure at idle runs about 20 psi. The topic "fuel pressure" was (sometimes) hotly debated here a while back... In case you missed out on the fun, here is one link to a pertinent thread:

As to the coolant, again, it's a older photo of my engine compartment. The "green" stuff came in our coach when we bought it - I don't know what brand it was. I have since switched to Fleetguard ES Compleat OAT "pink" stuff.
Another option... If you have difficulty finding the plate then call Foretravel tech support, give them the build number, and ask if they could look up the engine serial number for you. You also keep your clothes cleaner this way.

Look around the web site while you are there - they also sell other cool stuff for Cummins engines. 8)
