Where is the electric to air solenoid? Which relay, if any, runs it? TIA.
My 88 Oshkosh pusher has air horns that dont work. I traced the airlines and they end -maybe under the dash?
The solenoid valve for the air horns are under the dash in front of the gauges it is round and should have an air line attatched to it
The valve should come right off the back of the Air Pressure gauge.
Thankyou. I thought that it was the low pressure horn switch.
I just purchased a 1985 Oskosh rear engine Cat I see the air horn on top. Do they have a city horn? I'm a trucker every truck on the road has a city horn & an air horn. I'm thinking the air horn is activated from the center button on the steering wheel..
Thanks For your help
Philip
My 91 just has the air horns on top. No city horn like my Peterbilt.
Thank You stump, The relay clicks when I press the horn button but nothing happens. Maybe that air valve is bad, I guess if I bypass the valve I'll find out if the horn works. Where can I find that air valve? I'm going to purchase a dual horn kit and install it in the couch. An old trucker just has his ways of doing things.
Hope someone can help.. This is a new adventure for me.
Check out the resistance of the holding coil, if open, replace!
Thank You, is the holding coil the one with the air lines connected?
Simple change out, got one from amazon, changed out on the Alaska trip last year.
The horn solenoid valve on mine is mounted on the back of the air gage on the dash. You will see a air line coming off of it that goes to the horns on the roof. The center button on steering wheel energized it. If they are not working give it a light tap while pressing button. Or try wiggle the wire connection.
Fixed that problem with a new solenoid. Thank You
