Title: Under step storage
Post by: MBrooks on May 03, 2017, 07:33:57 pm
Kurt,
Will you tell us more about the "under step storage" photo? Maybe start a new thread on this topic? I checked archives but nothing unless I missed it. The motorhome looks really nice. Thanks.

New topic started  ;)

Foretravel designed in some under-step storage in some year coaches.  Our 2003 was not hinged, the step tread just lifted out.  Looks like in 2004 they added hinges.

Our 03 had a hinged stair tread with storage under it.

I remember seeing a report by someone who had added in-step storage to his Foretravel, I am traveling and only have limited net access. I am sure it could be found if we knew the right search term. I recall that the article included pictures!

Hope this helps,

Trent

Our 2003 has the hinged storage compartment. Not sure if it was OEM or the PO had it added when the steps were recovered by FT?

Trent,
I rebuilt our streps and added a step storage in the process. Here is a topic I posted with quite a few pictures, and a couple of pictures to add to this thread... I still have yet to put the finishing touches on the step entry area, but other priorities keep inserting themselves! ::)

Our 2003 is OEM with  hinged step storage.
Same here.

Use it for glass cleaner, rags, tire gauge, ratchet with the socket for the side mirrors (need this each time to get in and out of my gate) and a flashlight.  Only minor annoyance is the need to vacuum out the hinge while camping at the dunes or the desert.  The broom just doesn't work well.  But it is a very handy storage area.

Our '03 came with the storage step also. Great place for mirror covers, mini grease gun and emergency road triangle.

Hi MBrooks,

It's nothing really exciting.  You're not going to hide a body in it or anything :-). The step cover just flips forward toward the inside of the coach.  Its a good place to keep umbrellas or anything you want when you're dirty and don't want to track through the coach.
