I have a 1996 U320 (new to me) and I am struggling with the heating system! My owner's manual is written at a pretty vague level!
I can't figure out the bedroom heating system. I do understand the strip heat is zone 2 on the thermostat up front. I can set the thermostat for zone 2 and use the heat strip mode. That works fine.
I also have an Atwood Hydroflame thermostat in the bathroom but that seems to run the Aqua Hot for the bathroom. No hot air comes out of the vents in the bedroom.
It there a hidden thermostat for the bedroom? How do I get hot air out of the bedroom vents?
If the dip switch on the upper control board for the rear ac is set correct then it should show a furnace setting on the zone 2. If you have a furnace setting on zone 2 and no heat, it could be caused by a bad relay for that zone, a bad zone pump or a sticking check valve for that zone. If a stuck check valve they can be unstuck by hitting them gently.
I don't show a "furnace" mode for zone 2 on the front thermostat. It only shows heat strip (and cool).
Has some one changed the rear ac or upper control board? There are dip switches on the board that need to be set. for it to work.
There should be a zone 1 and 2 on the thermostat up front. Yours is probably different from mine. The furnace mode for zone 2 operates the bedroom AquaHot heat exchanger, the bathroom thermostat runs the AquaHot bathroom heat exchanger. Zone 1 furnace mode runs the LR AH heat exchangers.
Zone 1 living area runs fine since it has a Furnace mode.
The bathroom seems to be fine. The Atwood thermostat does operate it.
From what you are telling me, the front electronic thermostat SHOULD have a zone 2 with both a furnace and heat strip options. If it is missing, there could be a dip switch set incorrectly on the bedroom roof air control board? Correct?
Yes if the front thermostat has zone 2 ac and heat strip but no furnace then yes
I also sent you a pm on this
Try a reset. I can't remember for sure but I think it's holding down zone and mode while turning on the switch on the bottom of the thermostat. It shows FF then resets I will look for the directions. That might recover the missing furnace.
Thanks to all for the help. After your guidance, I was able to locate the dip switch (which was in the off position) and flip it. The rear Aqua-hot (furnace on zone 2) now shows on the panel and WORKS! Wooo Hooo.
I had the whole thing apart while thoroughly cleaning the AC coils (something that Tennessee RV did a VERY poor job of doing).
