Title: Primus Heating
Post by: Scredelle on May 16, 2017, 02:54:13 pm
Hello,
I have a 1995 U320 SE and my Primus heating system in inop. The control panel does not even light up and give a fault light. Does anyone know if there's a in line fuse to the control panel which is in a forward cabinet. The system was working fine before it just won't even turn on now. I know where the reset solenoid is in the Primus compartment and I bypassed that, which would cause the fault light on the control panel up front.

I have a fully functioning primus system. If you carefully take off the control panel above the steering wheel you will find a very tiny fuse. Hope thats your problem. Also the wanderlodge forum has lots of good info regarding Primus. Parts are hard to find. There are only a handful of Foretravels with Primus. When they work they are the best when they dont, its time for and electric blanket.

As all ready stated the Wonderlodge Forum is your friend as far as Primus.
One of the members there sells some Primus parts.  DUPREE PRODUCTS (http://www.dupreeproducts.com/)    You have to pucker real hard , but at least some parts are available. Actually its a fairly uncomplicated system. When everything is working its fantastic. even when only half of it works its still good.
Foretravel tried this system when they first introduced the U320 in 95. They then decided to go with the Aqua hot as an option. The Primus is for us chosen ones to enjoy. Nothing like the sound of those 2 boilers going full tilt on a cold night supplying almost unlimited hot water for heat and hot water for engine and cabin. Also being able to have it work through the heat defrost in the dash makes cold driving before engine warm up nice.

I better own up to the fact: My name is Paul. I have a Primus.

Mine's also in-op, but after reading Joe's post,  I am all ears. I never spotted the very tiny fuse that Joe referred to in the post above Lon's. (I promised Lon my systems heating heart when I switch to a diesel system. But, now...)

I'll sure stay tuned. Let me know if you seek professional help and succeed. Who else has one in your Foretravel? I have a glowing letter from a FT sales individual on letterhead addressed to the Orig Owner endorsing the company's BFF status w/ Primus before my coach's first owner bit the bullet and bought.

I'll work on a PDF copy of the Primus Owner's Manual when I get back to the ranch. Meanwhile...

@Joe, this tiny fuse , is it behind the Primus control panel with the buttons in the cabinet? And, is it a in line fuse or on the panel ?

Thank You
