Title: Looking for a fridge door hinge
Post by: Numbers on May 17, 2017, 12:50:10 pm
1998 U-320 with a Dometic Elite RM-7832 LP fridge.

I am looking for a lower right hand hinge door hinge and was wondering if anyone had one from a fridge they have pulled.

I have called Foretravel and MOT parts departments and neither company has any (and they don't pull and stock working parts from units they remove during renovations).

I've also called PPL motorhomes, Schwalm & Assoc in California, and All Seasons RV Appliance Parts & Service in Indiana.

Thanks,
Chris

Thank you both for the replies.

Leon Herschberger is very helpful, and is a great resource for fridge work.

RV Parts Plus in Canada said they don't actually sell a hinge repair kit.  The "kit" were some extra parts supplied by the fridge maker that came with the fridge when new.  RV Parts Plus had some information about using these parts to help adjust the doors to make them close properly.

Most everyone said the best approach would be to find a local small fabrication shop that would be willing to knock out a couple pieces.

You may want to try here, I have  no idea if they carry what you are looking for.

Colaw RV | Used RV Parts & RV Salvage | North America's Largest RV Salvage (http://colawrvsalvage.com/)

ETA  can you post a picture and dimensions of the part?  I have a guy that does RV repair and he has a few RV fridges in his bone yard, I might find what you are looking for

If the door is reversible and the top and bottom hinges are the same can you swap the left side hinges for the right side left top to right bottom, etc,?

They are swappable.

Our hinge isn't broken, just has cosmetics issues.

You might also try calling Infinity Upholstery in NAC.  They've done some fridge replacements and may have the old units in the yard.

Colaw has almost anything anyone needs but I have found them

to be expensive, over other used RV parts places. Have you tried

Dometic for the hinges?

I've repaired a few. Use JB weld. They pop riveted a small strip of aluminum over it. Painted it to match.

They don't produce them any more. You have to buy the whole door.

Really great  CUSTOMER SERVICE and  PRODUCT SUPPORT these days.

Long ago there was a pride in one's product having long longevity and supporting

their brand, but sadly, no more.
