It looks like the transfer switch in my coach needs to be replaced. Is there a recommended one that others have had good luck with?
Quick google found these.

Why do you think it needs replacing? New contacts are available if yours are burnt. Are wire connections tight?
I noticed after bringing the coach home yesterday (getting ready for a trip leaving in the morning) several clunks when I plugged into shore power at home, and batteries were not charging. I assumed transfer switch (ATS) was not switching to AC power. When running the generator everything powered up and batteries charged.
This morning, I tested the power system and verified that the top ATS does switch between Generator and shore and I have 120volts at inside electric outlets when on shore power. However there is no battery charging when on shore power. I noticed a 60 Hz hum coming from under the ATS. I switched off the Freedom 25 inverter/charger and the humming stops. but batteries still are not charging.
Anyone able to help diagnose this?
Barry, I checked all connections, they are tight. I may have jumped the gun on assuming ATS failure
Could the Freedom 25 charger have gone out?
Can you verify that:
- AC current is reaching the Freedom 25
- DC current is leaving the Freedom 25 where the batteries connect
Chris
Since your coach has two ATS, and the hum stops when you turn off Freedom-25, the hum is coming from the "2nd" ATS that transfers shore & inverter to inverter sub-panel. Hum is normal and not an indicator of a problem. The "1st" ATS transfers shore & generator to main breaker panel. I am not sure what is going on. Acts like the main panel breaker feeding the Freedom 25 is not closed, so the Freedom is not being powered and not charging batteries. Open main breaker panel to check for voltage at cable to Freedom?
What is the volts showing on your coach batteries??
John
When running genset. 13.7 13.8 vdc . When on shore something like 12.5 then drops to 11.8 overnight.
I am using a 15 amp cord with a 15 to 30 adapter and then a 30 to 50 amp adapter. So only one side of power is to ATS. But I have run it this way in past and all was fine.
I had an issue a while back where I lost shore power and my battery voltage dropped into the mid 10's and my Freedom 2500 would not kick in when shore power was restored. Hooked the batteries up to a good charger for a couple days and it has not failed me since. Inverter must have felt a replacement was in its future.

It looks like it is a bad breaker or maybe two. The 30 amp breaker for the inverter is tripping and the 50 amp breaker for the subpanel looks like it may be going bad as well.. These are the GE thin breakers.
BTW, In MY opinion (and experience) all Freedom 20 & 25 inverter chargers should be replaced.
If not soon, plan on doing it at a convenient time. Sometimes they 'go' and take other devices with them, sometimes they just die. Our Freedom may have caused two high quality Tripplite surge protectors burn (as in fire) out.
And meanwhile while Modified sine wave works for most devices, it often stresses electronics that are designed for home use where all electricity is true sine wave 60 cycles.
So TVs and other appliances may fail without realizing the source of the problem was not being powered with true sine wave power.
Modified Sine Wave Inverters had their day and have their place, but come at price. (lower price cost & higher price wear & safety)
Freedom 25 ate 2 Cuisinart coffee makers before I figured out what caused it. Otherwise it was working great
Thanks everyone for your comments. I do appreciate them.
I have a good freedom 25 around. Charge rate is 60 amps or so per hour otherwise worked ok.
Removed before failure. Have a good link 2000 remote
Just saying...
The ATS wouldn't see anything different..
The 30-50 amp adapter will tie the single 120 feed to both legs.
The only time stuff happens is when you try to draw more that a total of 15 amps from shore power.
