What is this tube and can I get rid of it? Is it structural to the bed frame? It is found underneath our mattress. It's open on both ends and seems to be screwed down in the middle.
Maybe it was for storage of something inserted from the foot of the bed without having to lift the mattress up.
But what?
Maybe used to hold the bed up when working on the engine?
I use a plastic tube just like that to hold the bed up because the lift assist plungers are not strong enough any more.
These are good ideas, but I don't think that's it. This is a metal bar bolted to the bed platform.
It shows which is his side and which is her side ^.^d ^.^d

I agree with John, Is it off center to one side or the other ? You get the short side . :)) :)) :))
OK, I know, the tube is to let sleepers know not to cross he center of the bed! Device was designed by the wife. Ha! Jim

It is prank from the prior owner or factory...Its of no use at all.
The factory knew it would be needed when the struts fail and secured it until need....Foretravel thinks of everything.

Thought it was the water bed drain, but had a hole in it.
I think it is where you attach the bundling board.
Trent
Its where you store your fly rod...you are a fisherman, aren't you?
Chuck, that today is now a "fisherperson" ^.^d

If the PO had a sleep number bed they put that in there to keep the mattress from sliding off during breaking.

Pea storage container for the princess?
Since your coach is newer than ours it is obviously some new-fangled invention. Probably connected to a computer somewhere. Put a tin foil hat on it.
Maybe the PO's weren't able to lift the engine cover and mattress so they installed a receiver that accommodates a smaller tube
which extends far enough out that mechanical advantage is gained.
I know.....................I'm over tired!
Naw...I'm still going with my wife's complaint that I hog the bed.

without a king sized bed
May be a contraceptive device.
Catheter hookup so one doesn't have to get up during the night?? >:D
You all have a warped sense of humor. :P But I appreciate the responses, nonetheless.
We decided to remove the mysterious bar on the bed platform. It was held in place by 2 phillips screws. Bed platform vacuumed, mattress rotated, mattress cover laundered, bed skirt in place, fresh sheets and duvet cover.....sweet dreams.
