Title: Torsilastic parts availability
Post by: Mike Leary (RIP) on June 06, 2017, 11:13:08 am
Is it true that no main parts are available for the Torsilastic suspension anymore?  ???

Mike you can get the torsion bar and shackles from Suralastic and outlet in San Antonio. The other parts do not need to be replaced. Spacers are easy to have made if needed. Tube around $1000 and shackles over $100 each (IIRC)

Another option if rear springs are the lower rating ones is to add "air over torsilastic".  This is also a common "fix" for Safari DP's with the same suspension.

Yup, pricey, I'd bet, to say the least!  I'd wonder if it was just the 3116 CAT with the extra weight, or was that just a crappy suspension design?

Wolfe, as I have had my Brothers coach here for a month doing repairs etc for them I have looked at the "air over Torsilastic" and looks like it maybe not doable. I will get under rear over pit this weekend to have a better look as this was my hope that we could make up some framing supports to add air bags.
Due to the FT design chassis there are no frame beams etc to bolt to.

Mike, nothing crappy about anything just that FT should haved spec'd the 19k springs for rear (IMHO)
