Want to have your steering box rebuilt by Red Head but when you checked the freight charges to Washington state you almost fell over? Not to worry.
Email Daniel Foster at info@redheadsteeringgears.com and he will send you a prepaid shipping label that will cost you a lot less,
and all you have to do is drop the core off at UPS. From East Tennessee I was going to have to pay $122.00 one way, and with Daniel's help I'm now looking at $58.00 each way ($116.00 total).
RedHead is first class!
If you have an account with them it I should always a lot less as it is a negotiated rate depending on how much you ship.
I found a company that can give you a rebuilt steering gear box for around $700.00 if you have the core to your old one. Not sure how they found it but the company is Sun State located in Davenport FL. The number is 863-424-2411. Hope this helps.

I believe RedHead charges much less than that, but, its been a few years since I had the work done by them.
They turn around in 24hrs, and there is no question to the quality of there work.
Pulling a box and re-installing it is NOT a job you want to do over again.
RedHead does more than a rebuild. They blueprint the steering box. Well worth the time & money.

Red Head's price to rebuild a M100 is $496.00, and in my case freight charges of $116.00.
Total of $612.00 gets me the best possible rebuild.
What are the steering symptoms? If too much play, how much? Just curios.
Most times just seals leaking. (O-rings, gaskets)

Yup, excessive play. Blueprinting the Sheppard box materially reduces it. There is no external adjustment for play on a Sheppard box.
Sorry, don't have a factual dimension for excessive play. But, if you find you are moving the steering wheel a couple of inches to make steering changes, time to crawl under and see if it is a worn steering component "downstream" of the Sheppard box, or in the box itself.
Steering will NOT be as tight as the rack and pinion units on cars, but should not cause you to "saw your way" down the highway.
