Title: Air Bags
Post by: John44 on June 22, 2017, 09:54:11 am
Talked to a guy with a 98 Monoco Signature who claimed he had all his air bags replaced and noticed a world of difference for
the better. It was a 98 and the bags looked similar to ours, has anyone had this same expierence with a Foretravel?
Can't figure what would give a better ride by just changing air bags.(yes I know I spelled Monaco wrong).

Quite likely they also set RIDE HEIGHT correctly when they installed the new bags.  That absolutely would affect ride and handling.

Wolfe 10  I was thinking that too.

New rubber is softer than old rubber.
It would be interesting to compress and expand an old and new bag to see if you could feel a difference.
New tires ride better than old ones even if the old ones still had a lot of tread, but,
John may be right about the hot air.

On some models Monaco used hourglass shaped air springs designed for industrial uses.

Worked well on early 90's mid doors.  Beautiful riding coaches.

By 96 who knows.  But a large improvement may having the oem hourglass bags replaced with straight sided.

This of course is not as funny of a comment

No difference in the ride in mine with 8 new bags but I do ride with more confidence I wont hear a loud boom. In that sense I suppose she does ride "better".

My '96 Monaco Sig. had the hour glass or two stage air bags. When I replaced them it was with the same. Didn't pay any attention to whether it rode better. They do have more travel than our Foretravels.

They feel the same, compress the same, old or new. Just did it.

Maybe the  two smaller  section bag has a faster rising rate than the single chamber , thus a more controlled ride, maybe not.
