About 6 yrs ago I posted a problem with one of my RS 3000 inverters. We got zapped in a storm and it fried one leg of one inverter. Turns out my coach needs both legs from one and only one leg from the other so we just swapped the two inverters around so that we had what we needed. Now I am having trouble with one of the inverters. It gives a red fault code and the fridge loses power when this happens. I have been able to reset it now on two occasions but I am concerned as to the cause and worried that it will happen with a full fridge. Anyone have advice or experience? I can not locate another Xantrex RS 3000 anywhere and I can't change just one with a different make and model.
When you get the fault is the generator being shut off or started at that time? The 3012 replaced that model, have you checked to see if it would be compatible? Also which is giving the fault?
No parts for the rs are available, you can call Eric at bio benefit energy in Costa Mesa, ca for info.
Gave him a failed rs 3000 to evaluate for his possible purchase as a core and it had no value to him after inspecting the failed unit.
I was on shore power each time this happened.
I have isolated what makes the inverter fault. Anytime shore power is interupted it throws a fault. You can then reset it. Any thoughts?
No parts available normally
I lived with that in my Monaco. A nuisance but I got used to it.
You could call Eric at bio benefit in Costa Mesa, ca about the rs issues. I took him one on the off chance he could fix it ot buy it. No
Problem is that the fridge goes out when inverter faults and if you dont catch it timely you lose everthing
Every time I disconnected power I just reset. I had a residential fridge also. It only happened on disconnect stayed fine when it was connected.
Update: My inverter faulted while I was running the generator and would not reset. Took a trip to Nac for them to investigate further and the inverter is toast. Now I have to replace both inverters and they are recommending to go with Xantrex 3012's so that is what we are considering. Any thoughts?
You would probably have to change some wiring and remotes, but the Magnum and Victron inverter/chargers appear to be better made and more versatile than the Xantrex.
I am using the 3012 it was a direct swap used the same cables. Having no issues 18 mo.
Edit: I bought mine with the monitor, it is different than the 3000 but uses the same cable.
+1 on victron
Love mine
+2 victron
I installed the 3012 when my 2000 went out. Easy swap out and did it myself. 3012 has been good for several years now.
