Post by: prevostart on July 01, 2017, 09:50:33 am
Who had the picture of the cool support for the socket extension to rest on for removing wheels?

Used a 3/4 inch torque wrench and a good socket to remove left front wheel, did not need or use a support.

Getting the rears requires a long extension and either helper, Rube Goldberg device or the support tool.

HF jack stand will support the extension and breaker bar.

And when you get the stand a simple calculation will enable to properly torque the lugs without a torque wrench.  Take your weight (200 lbs) times length of horizontal right angle extension (2.5 ft.) And stand with foot centered on the 2.5 mark. Repeat until lug no longer turns when extension is level.  That's 500  ft lbs. Adjust length as needed for proper torque.
Don't fall off.🙄😛

Lightly lube the studs and the torgue is about 350#.
Easier to achieve and it will stop the lugs from becoming frozen to the studs from corrosion.

Sure, my intent was not to advise anyone to torque their lugs to 500 lbs....rather a technique to accurately torque them to whatever value desired, without a torque wrench.
