Title: getting Trekmate into programming mode
Post by: gracerace on July 02, 2017, 11:28:59 pm
I did the search here on the Trekmate. Couldn't find much, other then replace it, because Trekmate is out of business.
Ours doesn't do any door locks (don't have power locks), and the start kill is bypassed. It was working fine with one remote. I understand the system.
One remote had bad batts, so I switched them to test the other one. Now neither remote works. I have tried and tired to get it into the programming mode:
Ign. on, hold up momentary switch, and turn ign' off while holding momentary switch till you hear 2 beeps, then a single beep, still holding till you hear 2 rapid sets of 8 beeps, then you are in the programming mode. I hear the 2 beeps, then one, but it just goes in and out of valet mode.Never 2 sets of 8 beeps.I know the momentary switch works. It turns Valet on and off (LED on/off). The remotes are beeping with new batts in them.
Any Idea's?
Thanks
Chris

Yep, chuck it and go get a new one. Search remote door locks ( or something like that ) as a few have installed new systems.

Thanks, ordered a new one online for under a hundred bucks. Has great reviews. Everything is already there, so it should be a snap.
Cheers

Amazon has them too, same price. You can read all the great reviews there. No wonder Trekmate went out of business. All this import stuff. Cheap as chips.
I just want the LED blinking (scare light),and the engine kill feature. Be nice to get rid of the need to turn the ign. on every 3 days to stop the buzzer.I really don't care about the other stuff.
Read close, you many need some other stuff to do what you want.I plan to add a magnetic door switch which I have, or use the step one with a relay for the entry.
These are all over. this seller had the best feedbacks.

I will., may be next week. Just going to use the trekmate wire diagram (harness plug), and tie their wires to that.

I tried that and it didnt work as I thought it would.. (on mine anyways). I was able to play with the wires until open and closed worked and that was far enough for me until I get time to finish it

I don't have power locks, so that will make it simpler.

Update. Adding power entry and 2 main compartment power locks also. Piece of cake. Pictures and stories in a week when I do it.
Just about completely converted this 97 to a 98!

Update:

Avital alarm is installed, and I am very pleased with it. Here is the wiring you asked for:

                  Trekmate  to Avital Alarm

Trekmate Wire                                      Avital Wire

Violet                                                        Yellow

Red      (unhook from 46B breaker)          Brown

Black                                                            Black

Orange                (tie orange and both blacks together)

White                              Cut alarm red/blue wires near plug

Remove coach LED ground wire connect white and ground to red/blue wires (either way)

Yellow                                                              Green

Tan/White            (both used tied together)      White

Hook red fused Avital wire to 46B breaker

Dark Browns                                      Plug into start kill plug either way

I don't have power locks, but adding them. Avital has outputs for locks which I will use later. It is Green/Blue

I didn't mount the Valet switch. Just hung it behind the breaker cover. You can activate it with the remotes also.

None of the other wires are used from the Trekmate. The Avital has inputs/outputs for other features. I am only using the door switch, motion detector and kill feature. I removed everything else from the coach cabinets

Everything came pre-programmed, worked right out of the box.

Update:
We now have electric main compartment doors, and entry. Super easy. Snagged a couple extra wires in the belly to the dash, then over to the control.
Really don't care about the other compartments.I could add them later, super easy. Going to put an override switch by the door, for just the entry door at night (dog walks). It won't set or unset the alarm...I love diodes.
Whole job with new alarm, and 4 actuators (have a spare) about 100.00.
Used this for the entry door. Nice piece.

Update.
Cool side note. I finally fired the coach up, only to find out, when the coach is running with the entry door closed, all the door locks latch automatically. When you turn the key off, they unlatch. Glad I installed an override switch at the entry door.
This is cool.
