Hydraulic fan solenoid valve miss wired. Would spin as Engine was switched off. Mobile rv tech had made some wiring changes to fix another issue. Disconnect the normally open valve so the single speed fan runs all the time for the charge cooler, till I research logic.
New identical # gates green stripe belts slightly different lengths on the same pulley set. Not uneven groove wear. Identical Belt tension ???±
Yes the multiple belts need to be replaced at same time.
You are good
I have to special order matched belt sets for my crane. Brand new from the same seller will not get matched belts. If you look closely at them there is a "run code" stamped on them and that is what tells you how close they were at the cutting stage. Picture a rubber hose being sliced and the cut from one end will not match the cut from the other end. You can run unmatched and just keep adjusting after running for awhile until they do match, The tight one stretches until it is the length of the long one.
Gates used to sell matched sets for some uses
I had no idea.
Me neither. I like to say that I learn something new every time I log on this Forum. This was my "New Thing" for today!
We always had to have matched belts for the 3208 Cats as they ran 4 sets of double belts.
After 1500 miles over tensioned belt gave up the ghost. Pulled into parking lot and tighten the remaining belt. Aborted my 16 mile trip to get propane tank filled and limped home. Called several auto parts stores seeking belts but the kids, just wanted to argue. No more NAPA in town of 400,000 and only one hard core auto parts store left :( Will call truck and industrial belt places Monday.
The parts people only know how to read the computer, they want the make year and model of a vehicle and have no idea how to match a belt or hose. The numbering system is straight forward to a old school parts person. Example a 17532 belt number is 17/32 wide and 53.2 inches long. I have been able to get them to let me go to their belt rack and get the belt I need as my crane is not in their computer, nor are our motorhomes.
My normal rule on any 3208 I was going to Rv in long ago was all new matching belts.
New batteries and new wiper blades.
Where are your house and engine batteries now?
You will definitely want to get gates belts. I do not remember the numbers but if you have the 300 hp 3208 at least you can get to the belts and will not have fan belts. The belts that are the hardest to get tight enough are the pair on the passenger side of the vehicle that are a short and go around the crank an idler pulley and then around the water pump as they are what provide the drive for the alternator and the air compressor.
If you have the original foretravel books for your coach. There should be a page with all the belt part numbers for your coach.
I think there is a tool used to tension the 3208 belts correctly and another to measure the tension
Continental Elite Matchmaker series for matched sets. About $18 each.
Gates only. Red tractor was a Foretravel tech and I was a sales manager in your days. Matching gates
Good luck on finding matched Gates. I couldn't find any matched sets except for special order Goodyear Gatorbacks
Maybe check with a cat dealer?
Cat told me to go to Freightliner, since the chassis manf added all engine belt driven accessories. Got the matched Conti belts from the authorized Freightliner repair/parts facility here.
