Is there a secret way to open the floor cover to access the safe in a U300 GV? My safe is in the floor beneath/forward of the co-pilot's seat. I cannot raise the cover panel.
Ours is in the bedroom and I made a small hook that I can slip into the crack at one side and get it started up then grab it and pull the cover up. I think with the location and difficulty of getting to the safe itself precludes the need for locking the safe.
Just use a pair of pliers to grab the carpet and pull up. Your carpet may have had something sticky spilled on it. Ours is a '93 U300.

The carpet should be cut on 3 sides and not attached to the safe. It lifts by itself and then you access the safe door.
Does yours not have the chrome plated flip up finger handle thingy?
Pulling up on the carpet revealed the safe on ours. The carpet was cut on three sides and opened toward the front of the coach.

I could not detect mine from the cab, located it from underneath. PO of 22 years did not know it had one. Pulled on the carpet and opened it up, it wasn't locked and found the treasure, a safe warranty registration card, fire rating certificate, stale air and 18 watches, not even Timex (some knock off brand called Rolex). No serial # or combination, but lock mechanizum is under a plate.
Phred You can call Foretravel and after sending them documentation that you are the owner they should be able to provide you with the safe combination when the coach was built. If an owner changed it well your out of luck. I got my combination that way and it had the same contents in it that yours did less the watches.
Phred, if you have the lid off you can take the cover off and figure out the combination and change it by looking at the wheels and the notches.

Chances are that you have the same safe as me, it's a Meilink and if you pull the guts out of it and don't know Exactly what you're doing .......I had our local locksmith come over and re-set the combo'.
1st # is 4 turns to the left
2nd # is 3 turns to the right
3rd # is 2 turns to the right
4th is all the way to the left till it latches.
they are a bit fiddly and it takes a few goes to get the feel.

BTW when you practice it's good to open the safe door and prop it so the lock pins are clear, that way you can't lock yourself out till you get the hang of it.

3 turns right stop on number
2 turns left stop on number
turn right until knob stops ''should be on your last number"
safe should open sometimes I have to jiggle a little ,it does take some practice.
We finally found the combination to the safe after a long time searching. My fiendish, greedy mind thought, "emeralds, rubies, diamonds, gold, cash." Nope, clean. I'd love to hear a story of someone who hit the big time! ^.^d
Mine had a big silica gel dry-pack in it, nothing else. Not all too surprising. I used it to hide my kitchen knives before going to Bonnaroo music festiva;, where they ban anything that could be a weapon. in hindsight, any of the storage bins under the couch, driver/pax seat, etc would have worked, as they didnt search anything but the obvious places. "security" was a bunch of kids who volunteered for a few hours work in exchange for free tickets, so they were much happier soaking up my air conditioning than actually hunting for contraband.
On our 1993 the carpet is cut on three sides, hinged on the curb side. No nice ring to pull, so we just pull up on the carpet. If yours is stuck you may need to use pliers. You might also try running a table knife along the edges. You should be able to see which way yours is hinged.
Here's where it is on a 95. Note the trim around the safe. The carpet is attached to a plywood cover that slips into the area defined by the trim.. On our 95 you had to pull the carpet to open it. No recessed handle as some have.
