What is the best way to mount 2 10ft. rec kayaks? The roof has a coffin in the rear section. Maybe remove the coffin and mount them up there? I put them inside for this weekend . Not happy .
I did not do a search this time.. Also, I will air up thur and give my ride height values.
Thanks,MM
I carry mine on the Grand Cherokee. Looking at my roof and planning on solar, if I didn't have a toad I would make a vertical rack for the back. I don't know if you have a rear radiator that would eliminate that idea.
I looked at vertical , but the 10 ft pl;us a 16in from ground gets it up there pretty good , Just over the AC boxes. maybe I can look again. I get about 12.0 +-. Rear rad.
Porta boat? 4" thick. On side?
Mike,
One of the nice things about 'our' old GV's is that compared to the bus style body is that we have a significantly lower overall height. There will still be plenty of clearance even with a couple of kayaks on the roof ( 13 +ft )...... but you have to be careful climbing that weak ladder. ^.^d
Mick
Are you pulling a towd? If so, like Craneman said, could you carry them on top of it? If not, how about carrying them on a light weight trailer?
Just saw a specific kayak rack for Rvs today , it's called " Rv kayak rack "
Not a joke, saw two in same campsite , it fits in hitch , made on east coast ??
Pretty cool design those RV Kayak Racks. (https://www.rvkayakracks.com/). Still not sure if its worth carrying our kayaks any distance since they're so easy to rent when you get to a place you want to use them! Looks like towing isn't possible from info on their website.
Thanks for the leads. Vertical looks right. Bike rack is there now , extend the rack to receive the boats. Scooter rack on the nose. Sanford and Son. But here in FL. the Kayaks are really nice and so many places to float them. How often can you ride bikes to the restaurant , eat and drink and ride home?. Now we can boat to the bar also. :)

cant get the pic to bite. sorry- try right click into new window
Mount them underneath ;D ... the GV's are so light you float across the Swamps and find the perfect place to camp..
My kayak goes into the bay on the joey bed. But it's a Folbot. Built up it's 17Ft so vertical is no bueno.
